Paige's pov

"AND ONE" I shouted as I shot another basket going in. I was with Nika Azzi and kk at the gym shooting around while kk was live. "P boogers on fire" Nika said as she grabbed my rebound "yeah you right" I said as I got the ball back. Kk was currently live as usual and was reading comments while we were just playing around "where is Ash? Um she had to study for a test in chemistry I think right?" She asked looking back at us "yeah yeah she said she'll swing by later though" I responded and she nodded going back to talking to the live. After a while she ended the live and turned to look at me and Nika while Azzi was on her phone. "Girl boo what is going on with you and Ash?" She asked making me and Nika look at each other. "What do you mean?" I asked earning a 'really?' look from her before she said "well y'all are awfully close all of a sudden and you look at her like all the time. Plus you always know where she is or what she is doing so spill girl" she said making me groan. I haven't really admitted even to myself that I actually liked ash but at this point I think it was way too obvious for me to say it was nothing. Plus I really don't think I could make someone believe that nothing's going on between us when I clearly have fallen in love with her "fine I like her. Guys I don't know what to do. I mean I don't even know if she likes me back. I have never been this nervous for someone" I finally said trying to avoid eye contact not wanting them to see me blush only to the thought of her. Nobody said anything for the next two minutes as I just stared at the floor while kk and Azzi tried processing what I had just told them while Nika waited patiently cause she already knew I liked her friend. After two minutes the girls cheered at my confession "CALLED IT" Azzi shouted making Nika laugh to the point she was lying to the floor while kk was making fun of me. "Ice owes me ten bucks" kk said making me look at her offended because for real who the hell bets on something like that. "Y'all are stupid. I'm done with your asses" I said going to grab my phone. I saw that Ash had called me already so I decided to call her back. I must have not heard it. "Uh guys ash called" I said looking up at them "isn't she studying or sum?" Azzi asked and I nodded at her with a worried expression on my face. "Hold on let me call her back" I said as I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up "Hey Ash what's up?" I asked hearing her walking in her dorm. "hey Paige you know where Nika is?" She asked kinda panicked. I was honestly confused because they haven't talked since they argued so it was pretty weird that she wanted to talk to her on the terms they were. "Um yeah she's here why?" I ask looking at Nika. "Tell her to come to my dorm asap please. Alone" she said unsteadily which made me start to worry a bit more. "Uh yeah of course" I said and she thanked me before hanging up. "Nika Ash needs you to her room asap" I said while she looked at me worried. "what?" She asked confused "Hey don't look at me like that I am just saying what she said. Although it is pretty weird not gonna lie" I said with my hands up before she started gathering her things. "Okay then guys I'll see you later. I guess it's important for wanting my presence while studying. Catch y'all later" she said before making her way to the exit. I looked down at my feet worried about what might've happened. She didn't sound quite alright through the phone which wasn't the best for me "She's going to be okay Paige. Don't worry about it" Azzi said patting my shoulder seeing that I am clearly in distress. I sighed and nodded in response not being quite in the mood for talking anymore. "I need to build the courage and ask her out" I said earning nods from both Azzi and kk "yeah and we might as well help you plan it. What are friends for if not intervening in your personal life pookie" kk said making me laugh and brightening a bit my mood.

Ash's pov

What the fuck? I can't breathe. Not properly at least. I was having a panic attack? I think? I don't know I was reading some formulas for my test in that's in two days and the next thing I knew was the room closing on me and everything sounding like I am miles away. I was sitting in a corner of the dorm forming a ball as I was sweating like crazy. "Ash?" I heard a voice form the distance but I couldn't bare to look up at the voice. I didn't have the courage. "Ash honey I'm here" I heard the voice again while a pair of hands made it's way around my back holding me against the body that belonged to the voice. "I'm I-I don't know what is going on?" I said panicking as I tried to breath normally. "It's okay baby" she said and I just lost it. "I can't. I do not want to be like this. I don't want to be such a crybaby. I don't know why this happened" I rumbled as a hand traced circles on my back. I decided to look up and found out that Nika was the person holding me and was already looking down at me sympathetically trying to comfort me as much as possible. "I'm clean I swear". It came out barely above a whisper. She nodded as a tear shed down her cheeks. "I know" she said lowly as well before making her grip tighter than before. Many people would feel like they are being choked right now. Not me though. I am very grateful that no matter what Nika has my back and knows what I need and when I need it. "I know you're pressured honey. I'm sorry that I snapped at you the other day" she said making me nod. I didn't need her apology I just needed my best friend back. That's all I cared for right now. "It's okay. I know that you didn't mean to hurt me. I know you care about me" I said as I held eye contact with her. That's when I saw a small smile break her worried expression making me slightly feel better about my self. "how about we get up and get you some warm coffee?" She asked lowly making me nod. She knew coffee was my weakness and I am glad she remembers those things about me. I could really use some coffee to help me relax. We slowly approached thee couch as she got me to sit down before going to the kitchen. I sat there thinking about literally everything as Nika was brewing us coffee. I am glad that she was here to help me but I couldn't bare the feeling of missing Paige. For some reason she was all I could think about right now. "Here" she said as she handed me my mug. I smiled at her before letting the smell of the fresh coffee bless my nostrils. "Listen Niks. I wanted to tell you something" I said wanting to inform her about my feelings for Paige. She looked at me with a small smile the worried expression not once leaving her face. "I like Paige. Like a lot. And I know that you blame her for my injury and all that and I don't know how she just runs in my mind rent free and I can't seem to get her out. The way she sat with me in the hospital and the way she took care of me when we got here and slept. I just I know that something about her is keeping me there and doesn't let me get her out" I rumbled to Nika who was listening to me with precision and a small smile on her lips. When I stopped talking there was a moment of silence before she started laughing softly earning a confused look from me. "what's so funny?" I asked slightly annoyed. She looked at me before saying "you're down bad" and I laughed at the way she said it as I slightly punched her shoulder. "Fuck you okay?" I said as we continued laughing and I am not gonna lie I already feel much better. "You know she likes you too right?" She said making me look at her almost immediately. She then burst out laughing at my reaction as I was staring at her trying to comprehend what I had just heard. Once she had calmed down I finally asked her the only thing that came first in my mind "WHAT? AND YOU KNEW?". I literally shouted as I got up. She nodded at me making me look somewhere else before i looked ack at her. "Okay I smell betrayal but for now I just want to take her out since she already likes me" I said basically running up and down the room. "Jeez can you calm down. A girl likes you big deal" she said making me turn around and throw her a look "she is not just some girl alright? I like her a lot. I need to do this in the most perfect way possible" I said. "Alright alright how about a movie date? I can search and see if any of the movies she likes is playing so y'all can go and watch at the cinema?" She offered making me smile form ear to ear. I nodded eagerly as I was waiting for her to find something good. "Okay inside out 2 is playing right now y'all could watch that" she offered and I beamed with excitement as I hugged her tightly earning laughs from her. "So now only thing that I have to do is ask her" I asked Nika and she nodded with a smile. I sat back down and lied down on her lap as she played with my hair "I'll need your help though. I don't wanna screw this up" I said as shee chuckled "To think you even had the choice of leaving me out of the date preparation is crazy" and with that we laughed as we stood there in silence having missed the company of one another due to our last collision.
