We spent almost an hour making and editing the video we made of eating holiday treats. I had fun for once and it made me reflect on all the fun I've missed out on with my brothers since I didn't want to steal their spotlight.
Madison was staying a little longer since we were all going to watch a Christmas movie to get into the mood. I had on some simple red sweats with a Nightmare Before Christmas shirt on. Matt, Nick, and Chris wore matching plaid pajamas with bright colors on them. Madison wore regular sweats with a Christmas sweater.
"Hey, you guys start the movie. We're gonna go get some snacks, be right back." Matt informed us as Chris grabbed his car keys. Nick jumped up from the couch.
"Any requests?" He asked, specifically looking at me.
"Dr Pepper." I immediately answered. "Oh, and mint Oreos." Nick chuckled, ruffling my hair before my brothers left, locking the doors behind them.
"I think you should pick the movie." Madison leaned back on the couch beside me, tossing the tv remote in my lap. "I heard you have good taste."
I chuckled with a small blush rising to my cheeks, grabbing the remote and clicking through the movies. "I don't, but thank you anyway." I began before choosing one. "Can't go wrong with the Grinch." I clicked on the animated version and hit play.
Madison nodded. "I like it, all for it." She looked at me with a charming smile on her face.
I glanced at her through the corner of my eye. "Me too, but I would rather watch The Nightmare Before Christmas."
"Why don't you?" Madison turned her body towards me.
"Because I watched it way too much last Christmas so my brothers said I'm only allowed to watch it twice every season now." I giggled as Madison's eyes widened. "I've already watched it twice with them and three times by myself so far."
"I don't blame you though." Madison reached for her iced coffee. "It's a good movie."
"A classic by Tim Burton." I groaned happily, tossing a piece of popcorn on my mouth.
"Is it bad that I can't focus on this movie because you're next to me?" Madison broke the small silence that formed between us.
"Am I distraction?" I asked, turning to see her staring at me with a look of admiration on her face.
"Maybe, but a damn good one." She scooted closer to me.
"You should know that if my brothers walked through the door right now, they might fight you." I whispered, feeling her warm, strawberry breath against my lips.
"Would they?" She asked, grabbing my hands and placing them on her chest.
"Yes, especially since we just met." I chuckled quietly, making her smile. Madison's head dropped to my shoulder.
"We did." She lifted her head again with a smile. "And yet, I have the need to always be around you."
"You definitely don't want to." I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, looking shyly away from her.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I'm a mess, Madison." I looked at her. "Dating me isn't easy, hooking up isn't easy either. You do not want to get to know me."
"But I think I do." Madison kneeled in front of me, grabbing my hands when I looked away from her again. "I'll keep trying till you say yes." She smirked, kissing my knuckles just I'm time when we heard the locks clicking from the door.
Madison took her original seat on the couch again while I tried calming my heart down. My brothers walked in with a bag of snacks from target.
"We're watching the Grinch?! Hell yeah!" Nick cheered, grabbing his snack from the bag and taking the spot beside Madison and I. I avoided her eyes on me and focused on the movie. Or at least tired to.

"That movie hits hard every time." Chris stood up, mumbling that sentence on his way to the bathroom.
"Not as much as Nightmare Before Christmas!" I yelled to him making him flip me off and I laughed as Matt playfully smacked me with a pillow.
"No more of that movie." Nick groaned with a smile, snatching the rest of my popcorn from the bowl, shoving it in his mouth.
"Brothers." I grumbled under my breath, hearing Madison laugh softly from behind me as I stood up to dust myself off. "I'm gonna go to my room." I said and received kids in response from everyone else.
I entered my room, changing out of my pants into shorts since it got a little hot. I collapsed down on my bed and groaned to myself when I heard someone knock on my door. I pretended to be asleep and noticed it was Madison who walked in.
"Whether you're pretending or not... I'm leaving, I'll see you later." She brushed back my messy hair, kissing my forehead. "I left my number on your dresser." I felt her kiss my forehead one last time before pulling my blanket up over my body more. She shut the door as she left, making me let out a breath of relief.
I sat up, turning on my lamp. I grabbed the note off my dresser and read it. Madison's number was really on it with a heart drawn next to her name. I typed in my phone before I forgot and laid back down. I stared at my ceiling with a feeling forming in my heart.
A feeling I haven't felt in a little while.
