"Your egg is hatching!" Peril's instincts told her. Peril turned around a corner and ran down the hallway. The eggs couldn't hatch now. could they? Peril thought that she'd have at least a week before she would see her egg hatch. She started to fly through the tunnel to get to the hatchery. She landed in the doorway, puffing. Where was her egg? If she got there before it was too late, she would- nope, she could not even think about it.

She scooted into the room, carefully going past the other eggs.

"Come on, come on, where is it?!" Peril mutters to herself.

"There!" Peril's neck snaps to the 3rd last pedestal. Clay was already there, watching the egg intently. She leapt beside him, and watched the egg too.

Suddenly, it started to form cracks on its shell. Then, when half of the egg shell was cracked, the whole thing melted into goop.

Peril made a noise, and slowly crept up to the egg.

Clay went up to the egg and threw a bit of melted egg shell off a bump in the middle.

There, standing perfectly, was a little dragonet with copper scales, looking like they radiate heat. The dragonet yawned, and fell asleep in a little ball. He could pass as a skywing, but he was definitely a mud-sky hybrid.

"Copper? Is that a good name?" Peril whispers.

Clay picks up the dragonet, and turns to look at peril.

"Perfect." He says.
