Chapter 6:I'll just leave you hanging Part 2

I woke up with a start,
my body drenched in cold sweat, my hands shaking slightly.
I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down, realizing I must have had a vivid nightmare.

I chuckled to myself, getting out of bed to go to the bathroom.
As I walked downstairs, I put my hair up in a ponytail, getting it out of my face.

I made myself a hearty breakfast - pumpkin pancakes with maple syrup and a cup of coffee with pumpkin spice creamer.
As I sat down to enjoy my meal, I turned on the TV, and the news immediately caught my attention.

My eyes were fixed on the screen, my hands shaking as I slowly put my drink and plate down.

Tears rolled down my face as I realized what I thought was a dream last night wasn't.
The news reporter's voice was somber,

"Good morning to every beautiful person who managed to make it another day. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the young gentleman named Thomas Hoodie."

As I listened to the report, my mind raced with questions. Who could have done such a heinous crime? And why? I felt a chill run down my spine, realizing that this was no dream. This was real. And it hit way too close to home.

The details of the crime were gruesome.

Thomas Hoodie's lifeless body was found in the outskirts of the woods, hanging from a high tree branch. His face was disfigured, skin torn off, leaving only the skin of his eyeballs. Some of his hair was ripped out in clumps. His body had slash marks all over his arms and legs, but what really took him out were fatal blows to his stomach and chest. Detectives say he was still alive for seven agonizing minutes before perishing, ultimately due to loss of blood and shock.

His clothes were tattered and dirty, as though he had been dragged through the mud. But that's not even the worst part. A creepy message was carved into his back, "I'll just leave you hanging." I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that this was no random act of violence.

This was a targeted attack,
and the killer was still out there.
