Chapter 7:BloodStains & Shadows
Ever since that fateful day, I've been haunted by the memories of what I saw. I find myself glancing over my shoulder, noticing tiny details I never paid attention to before - the way the sunlight filters through the trees, the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet, the eerie silence that seems to follow me.
The memory of that early morning and the gruesome news report has left me with a persistent sense of unease, making it impossible to sleep or eat. Despite the voice in my head warning me to stay away from the woods, I'm drawn to that path like a magnet. It's a route I've always walked, cherishing the peacefulness and quiet beauty of that pathway, which was once my sanctuary. But now, it's tainted by the horrific event that unfolded there.
As I walk that path, I'm met with a gruesome sight. The reddish-brown stains on the tree seem to leap out at me, and I can almost see Thomas's lifeless body swaying gently in the wind. His eyes, once bright and full of life, now frozen in a permanent stare, seem to bore into my soul.
I remember the pale color of his skin, the dark circles under his eyes, and the twisted expression on his face. The stench of blood and urine lingers in my mind, making my skin crawl. I recall the blood that dripped from his body, staining the tree trunk and seeping into the ground. The soft grass around the base of the tree was stained crimson, making it hard to distinguish from the earth.
The blood had also trickled onto the dirt pathway, leaving a gruesome trail that seemed to lead me deeper into the woods. Every step I take, I can almost hear the creaking of branches and the soft rustling of leaves, which seems to whisper his name. His body, once full of warmth and life, now hangs limp and motionless, like a macabre puppet dangling from the tree.
I'm consumed by fear and uncertainty, wondering if I'll ever be able to walk that path again without reliving the horror. And then there's Thomas's name, Thomas Hoodie, which resonates with me for reasons I can't quite explain. It's as if I've heard it before, but can't quite place it. Suddenly, a fleeting memory flashes before my eyes, and I remember who Thomas was...
