History
Richard is Kingpin's son, from Earth-5235. He was never aware of his father's position as Kingpin, only knowing that his last name earned him the fear of most people around him. With most people avoiding him throughout his life, Richard always felt alone. He never understood why, until visiting his father at work with Vanessa. An assassin broke in, shooting Kingpin in the head, then killing Vanessa. Panicked, Richard ran out of the room, hiding in the first room he came across. In this room were his father's experiments, particularly a radioactive spider that bit Richard.
After being bitten, Richard grew fangs and discovered he had abilities that he never had before - wall-climbing, the ability to shoot webs, super strength and most notably, a paralytic venom that leaked from his fangs. He became Spiderman that day, saving New York from criminals and supervillains. Still, he went to university and graduated with a Ph.D.
Then one day, Richard was dragged through a portal and ended up in an unfamiliar place. The experiments at Alchemax succeeded in bringing him to Earth-1610B, where he met an alternate version of his father, who had survived instead of him. Unaware that him not being there was destroy his original world, Richard chose to stay. He was given a job at Alchemax, specifically focusing on the biological aspect of dimension travel, and how it affected people. With the help of the other scientists, he built a device that stabilised his atoms.
Still, whenever he could, Richard took on the role as Spiderman still, being known as Nightspider. Never interfereing with Peter's work or any canon events, albeit intentionally, he managed to cause little to new issues in the other world.
Then Miles was bitten by another radioactive spider, and Peter was killed. Richard, despite not really knowing Peter, was shaken at the knowledge that another Spider had been killed at the place he worked at. Deciding to focus on his work at Alchemax, he became closer with his coworkers, namely Jonathon Ohnn. Unfortunately, when returning home after a day of work, a symbiote that had escaped from its original dimension attached itself to Richard. Wanting to revenge of the Spiderman of its world - Spider-Gwen.
While the symbiote was eventually removed from Jonathan, by the time he came to, the Collider had exploded. Not only was his only way to his home dimension destroyed, his father was arrested, and Jonathon, who he considered his closest friend, was missing and presumed dead. Devastated from essentially losing everything yet again, Richard blamed Miles and the other Spiders.
He stole the symbiote from the research lab it was stored in and allowed it to pair with him. Now with a shared goal of getting revenge on the Spiders, Richard had almost full control over the Symbiote. Calling himself Scion, he became a villain terrorising Miles' world, wanting revenge.
Notes * As Scion, his Paralytic venom becomes stronger and more versatile. Instead of needing to bite someone, he can just spit the venom out on them. * Scion has a tail, the end of it is super sharp and can be used essentially as a knife * Jonathon never came to him after becoming Spot, because Richard had been missing for about two weeks at that point. He didn't know where Richard was, and didn't recognise Scion as him.
