I never gave much thought to love. This feeling isn't something common for me. My mother was so distant that I had grown into her ways, I don't get very close to girls because I don't enjoy it. Opening up isn't scary, but it's a waste of time. Why create a relationship just to get left? It's simply annoying and, quite frankly? It pisses me off.

Today was an easy day for me, I was working in the garage.. I owned a small business with my buddy Ash. He took me in when I was 16 he was an acquaintance in the grade above me in high school. We didn't talk much, but he helped me lots these last years. I'm 28 now, and the business has gone well. We were reliable and wouldn't scam you. People came to us for modifications and occasionally some simple repairs.

I wiped the oil from my hands, I was changing the oil on my 1970 dodge challenger. It was a glossy black color, and the seats were dark red leather. I took pride in my muscle car. She was my baby.

"Z!" Ash calls for me, and I turn my head
"Yeah, what's up?" I slide a Marlboro stick out and put it to my lips with the flick of my lighter.
"Tomorrow you need to come in early. We need to look at the motor in this dude van."
I nodded nonchalantly and threw my cigarette pack and wallet into my car.
"I'll show up at 8, yeah?"
"Sounds great." He shrugged and waved me off

I turned my car to life, and the engine roared like a beast, rumbling as I switched through discs in my glove box..
I throw in a nickel back album and let it play. I navigate past my favorite bar, and the streets are lively tonight. Full of girls in dresses so tight it left little to man's imagination. I paid mild attention.. I just wanted to go home for a jack Daniel's bottle. And that's what I did. I pulled down the street and into the driveway of a 2 story home with a double garage, I park inside and turn my car off, stepping out and avoiding small piles of car parts and loose screws.

I unlock the door and step inside, flicking the lights on to the home, I walk over to the bottle of Jack Daniel's I left for myself and go to the front porch.. I watch a black sedan travel down the road to the manor down the road. I'm about to take some interest before I watch Ash's car pull in, and he has some grocery bags in hand

"Need help?" I put my bottle down
"Only if you're cooking."
"Nah, man." I smirk and lean back with my arms folded behind my head
"New neighbor." He nods his head off in the direction of the manor
"I saw." I stand up with my bottle now in hand and make my way inside with him
