🎵Why is love so harsh,
My heart's being lost and found...🎵H E A T H E R
So Dustin and Sophie were cousins. That made way more sense than my assumptions. And for some reason, a part of my heart was glad as well. But I'd never tell anyone that.
And, anyways, I had more important things to think about. By the time I had come home, Bianca was curled up on the sofa. With a small device pressed to her face as she pressed some buttons, giggling about it.
I plopped next to her, ignoring the dark looks sent my way, and peered at her phone. She was on Pinterest, looking at Latinos with a smirk.
Typical spoilt sister.
Bianca moved the phone away to reveal that she was sipping a Cola. She was also looking at me with a glare, "Who was that guy who dropped you off?"
Huh. Bianca usually never cared about my life, unless... oh, she was only curious about why a certain Dustin, who was probably her type, dropping me off. Wonderful. I shrugged casually, trying to downplay it.
"Oh, just a friend."
"Hm. What's his number?" She asked casually, and I realized that she was ready to take a number. Like I said, typical spoilt sister.
"I don't have it." I answered. Of course I had it. He had given me his number right before he dropped me off. Sophie gave me hers as well, which I was happy about. After the tragedy of Bianca? The only numbers I had saved was my parents, brother, and the police.
You could tell my sister loved taking my friends.
Bianca didn't believe a word of it, and scowled at me, folding her arms, "Give. It. Now." She spat, before snatching my phone and pulling up his number. I tried grabbing it, but she took Sophie's number instead, probably not knowing.
Or maybe because Sophie had saved her profile picture as her trying to dump Dustin's head into the pool.
Maybe.
She then dialed the number with a toothy grin, as I snatched my phone away.
"Hello?" She asked on her phone, laughing.
"Hi?" I realized that it was Dustin answering, probably because they were doing stuff. I would give anything just to not be cooped up in a house with Bianca, but Dad and Mom would get worried. Probably.
"Is this... the boy who dropped Heather off?" She had lived with me for her whole life, and couldn't even pronounce my name correctly. Go figure.
"Um, yes? Did she give you this number?" I wanted to facepalm as Bianca giggled a 'yes'. Dustin would think of me as a creep. I'd lose the friends I just made. Bianca would probably steal them and make them just as maniacal as her minions.
But then again, they did seem nice... I desperately hoped.
Anyways, I couldn't take it anymore and snatched the phone off her, "Hey, Dustin? I'm sorry, I didn't give her your number. Or Sophie's. She took my phone and found it." I said hastily as I made sure Bianca didn't scratch me with her sharp fake nails.
I heard Dustin laugh on the other end, and Sophie's amused voice in the distance, before he replied, "Want me to pick you up?"
I wanted to say, 'yeah, my parents would totally let me'.
But I was too busy defending myself from a crazy monster named Bianca, so I quickly whispered, "Get me out of this hell-hole."
"On my way, Heath." He answered. Heath. Huh. My Uncle used to call me that. Oh, the good old days, with Uncle beside me. Those were the epic days.
Soon, I heard Dustin's car park, and he patiently waited with Sophie. I was just about to leave when I was caught in the act. Someone coughed from behind me, making me whip around and gulp as I saw the new witness.
"Hey... Dad."
"And where are you going?"
"With a friend?"
He raised an eyebrow, clearly not pleased with that answer, and snapped, "Yeah, I don't think so. Bianca has informed me that you're sneaking out to go party. I did not raise you like this, Heather Solace, and-"
"Party?!"
First of all, Bianca's a liar, and second of all, why does he speak like we're in court?
"Yes, party. Are you suggesting that Bianca would lie?"
"Oh, not just suggesting, I'm saying!"
"Heather Solace!"
"Fine! Ask my friends yourself!" I snapped. Oh, wait. Crap. They did not tell me where we were going, and they could've been planning on taking me to a party.
Oh, crap.
"You know what? I think I will." He then stormed out of the house, me quickly following after. Dustin was driving with Sophie in the back, who was leaning forward and lowering the volume as we approached.
I gave them a I-am-so-very-sorry look, to which Dustin smiled and shook his head as if to deny it.
"Hello," Dad started, clearly unimpressed by Sophie's choice of clothing, but didn't say anything, "Are you two friends of Heather Solace?"
Yeah, he definitely thought we were in a court case.
"Yes, Sir. I'm Dustin Parks, this is my cousin Sophie Lynch." He answered, smiling politely. For a guy who the whole school thought was a damn boy, he knew how to seem friendly and respectful. For a guy like him.
"Hm... Well, where are you planning on going?" I could tell Dad seemed to be a little more lenient, and I was praying I would be allowed, and that they wouldn't listen to the lies that Bianca had told them.
"The park, Sir. We were planning on buying ice cream - if that's alright, of course - and just hanging out there." He said cheerfully. That sounded really safe.
"Well, I'm not going to be a party pooper, so please, go on!" He definitely was getting closer to Dustin, and he looked ready to shake hands and go playing football with the guy already. Dustin needed to teach me.
Every person who knew me didn't trust me very well - most of the time due to Bianca's blaming.
"Thanks, Sir!" Dustin laughed, before beckoning me to sit in the passenger seat. I sat down beside him, and as we left, I spoke, "Thank you so much. My Dad would've killed me."
He laughed, "He looked like he was about to murder me when he came out the door. But you're good, Heath."
I smiled at that. Yeah, he probably would've, "He thought you were taking me to a party. Where are we really going, though?" I asked curiously.
"The... park?"
"We're actually going?"
"Yeah."
Oh. So we were going, and that wasn't an alibi. Well, I just don't have the brain capacity to realize that he had been telling the truth about the park.
Eh.
