"hand in hand. you and me. today, tomorrow, forever" unknown

it was a rare, peaceful afternoon at hogwarts. the usual hum of activity in the castle had settled into a quietness as students took advantage of a break from their studies. for once, the grounds were free of the usual hustle.

y/n, with y/c hair and e/c eyes that sparkled with curiosity, and walker, whose curly blonde hair and easy smile had always been a source of charm, had decided to escape the confines of the castle for a quiet afternoon by the black lake. the sun shined brightly, casting a warm glow over the waters and the surrounding landscape. they had packed a small picnic basket, with a few blankets and cushions, they made their way to their favorite spot—an old, worn tree on the edge of the lake.

as they settled down on the blankets, y/n glanced at walker with a playful smirk. "do you think we'll have any unexpected visitors today?"

walker, pulling a sandwich from the basket. "given how quiet it is, i'd say we're safe from any of the usual suspects."

y/n laughed, taking a sip from her butterbeer. "it's nice to have some time to ourselves. i feel like we've barely had a moment alone with everything going on lately."

they had both been buried in their studies, preparing for their final year exams, and had little time for relaxation. this afternoon was a much needed break, allowing them to simply enjoy each other's company without any distractions.

the lake's surface shimmered in the sunlight, and a gentle breeze ruffled their hair as they chatted about their plans for after graduation. y/n had always dreamed of becoming a magical creature healer, while walker had his heart set on working with the ministry of magic. they shared their aspirations and talked about the future with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

after they finished their sandwiches, walker reached into the basket and pulled out a small box of chocolate frogs. he handed one to y/n, who accepted it with a smile. "do you still have that collection of chocolate frog cards?"

"of course," she said, biting into her chocolate frog. "i've got a whole box of them. i think i'm only missing a few now."

walker opened his frog and examined the card inside. "another duplicate of dumbledore. my collection's getting out of hand."

they spent a few moments comparing their cards, laughing at the duplicates and discussing their favorite ones. the playful banter was accompanied by the occasional splash of water as a few curious ducks paddled nearby.

as the sun began to dip towards the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue over the lake, y/n leaned back on the blanket, her gaze fixed on the distant hills. walker, lying beside her, propped himself up on his elbows and watched her with a fond smile.

"you know," y/n said softly, "even though things are a bit stressful right now, i'm really glad we have these moments together."

walker reached out and took her hand in his. "me too. it's these little things that remind me why it's all worth it."

they fell into a comfortable silence, simply enjoying the peacefulness of the setting. the occasional rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds created a soothing soundtrack to their quiet contemplation.

after a while, walker sat up and began to unpack the rest of the picnic basket. he pulled out a couple of small pastries and offered one to y/n. she accepted it with a grateful smile, and they continued their relaxed conversation, sharing stories from their childhood and dreams for the future.

as the sun sank lower, casting long shadows across the lake, walker took a deep breath and looked at y/n with a serious expression. "you know, i've been thinking a lot about what comes next for us."

y/n raised an eyebrow. "what do you mean?"

"well," walker said, his voice thoughtful, "we've got a lot ahead of us after graduation. jobs, maybe even a bit of travel. i'm just wondering where we fit into all of that."

y/n squeezed his hand reassuringly. "i don't have all the answers either. but as long as we're together, i think we can handle whatever comes our way."

walker's expression softened, and he leaned in to kiss her gently. the warmth of the moment and the affection they shared were as they pulled away, he whispered, "you're right. we'll figure it out as we go. as long as we have each other, we'll be okay."

the last rays of sunlight flickered across the lake, and the sky began to darken, turning shades of purple and blue. the stars started to appear, shining gently above them. the cool evening air was a welcome change from the warmth of the afternoon, and y/n and walker snuggled closer under the blanket.

they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, gazing up at the starry sky and discussing their hopes and dreams. the world outside their little bubble seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in their own peaceful world.

as the night grew darker, they packed up their things and began to walk back to the castle, their hearts light and their spirits uplifted by the quiet, perfect afternoon. the black lake, now bathed in moonlight, was a fitting end to a day that had given them the space to simply be together, without the usual distractions and pressures.

it was these moments of shared tranquility that reminded them of the strength of their bond and the joy of simply enjoying each other's company. and as they headed back to hogwarts, their hearts were full, knowing that no matter what the future held, they would face it together, side by side.
