Techno could hear the breeze in the grass, the birds, Dream's inhales of breath, the serenity of it all was something Techno rarely had a chance to appreciate. Though his lungs were burning, the sun beating down on them, and his throat felt on fire, Techno understood the desire to run now. Instead of giving his thoughts clarity, it distracted them. Leading his mind to wonder about the views and sounds.

They came upon the village. By now Techno had stopped believing in the calmness of the city and now wanted to be one with the ground beneath him due to exhaustion. Perhaps a bit dramatic but he always had a flair for theater, not that he ever was given the opportunity to join any sort of production. His mind raking over all the school activities he could've possibly done but was never able to. His parents took him out of school at sixteen to focus on his training. He still received "schooling", but not in any sort of institution.

"When did you get into running?"

Dream thought for a moment, the soft crunching of rocks beneath their shoes filling the silence. "College honestly. Some of my few friends I had met there were in it and since it was going to take up all their time, I thought it'd help us stay connected if I joined."

"Did it?"

Dream laughed pitifully, "No, they were absolute snakes. They've been trying to contact me since they found out I qualified though."

Techno hummed, "Are you still in college then?"

"Yep! Majoring in computer science."

Techno wonders what major he would've chosen if he had been given the option. He'd always loved reading and the creation of stories. Maybe that was just to escape from the reality he lived in currently though. What would he be if he had been adopted by a normal suburban family? It almost sounded like a fairytale.

"Did you or do you go to college?"

Techno shook his head, "Nope."

Dream looked around the golden fields, "I like it. It's far too much money but the sense of community is nice, and it means I don't have to fully enter the real world yet, y'know? I'm still just a student. A student with a hell of a lot of debt, but a student nonetheless."

Techno chuckled as if he could relate. He understood being broke and living in poverty. He had lived in households where ends didn't quite meet but he was a kid but he only understood that he was often hungry. He didn't have much issue with it though, not when he played with the neighborhood kids and spent his free time reading in the grass. He smiled at the memories. He was so far removed from it all now. He could barely recall the struggles he painfully endured from ten to thirteen. Maybe that was for the best.

"Must be nice to be able to focus on your training,"

Techno shrugged, "I guess,"

Techno's gaze suddenly focused on the car speeding through the village. Reaching out to grab Dream's wrist and pulling him back as the car rushed past, kicking up dust in its trail. Dream stumbled into Techno's chest in his unpreparedness and Techno's arm wrapped around him instinctively to keep him steady. Dream watched with a shell shocked gaze as the car sped off into the distance.

Techno quickly dropped his grip on the blond. "Fuckin' ass," he huffed in disbelief.

Dream seemed frozen to his spot, his right shoulder against Techno's collar. "Holy shit, holy shit, shit," there was a franticness to his voice, panicking.
