Tameria stood frozen, her gaze fixed on the King. What had Arkan done? She turned her focus to the prince."Arkan?" she inquired.
Her mind was a storm of confusion. He held her stare."I might have inadvertently declared you as my fiancé..."
She looks at him in shock. Fiancé? Was she truly supposed to marry him simply because of a dance? She looked at his extended hand, caught in a conflict of longing and uncertainty. Was this really what she desired? Could she refuse him? The notion of becoming a princess seemed at odds with who she truly was. Still, despite her reservations, she took Arkan's hand, allowing him to lead her toward the throne.
The king greets her with warmth, "Lady Tameria, daughter of my Dragon Tamer and fiancée to my son."
She smiled as she stood before the court, her thoughts racing. Oh dear Gods, how could she possibly escape this situation?
