"We will go hunting in an hour. Tell them to prepare three horses, Penelope"
"Right away sir"
"Additionally, please inform my sons."
"Certainly, sir."
Penelope walked away trying to find the two oldest sons of the house. She informed them and they started preparing.
In an hour they were both standing in front of the house waiting. Nikola exited the house in a hurry.
"My apologies I lost track of the time"
"It all right Father"
Said Albert
They quietly got on their horses.
"In what part of the forest are we going to...?"
Franz asked
"Same as the last time or on the west side"
"We are not going hunting, I need to talk with you two"
Franz and Albert gave each other a confused look. But they didn't dare to speak another word and decided to follow their father in silence. After what seemed like an hour Nikola stopped and jumped off the horse. As a 50-year-old man, he was very fit and had the strength of a twenty-year-old.
"Tie your horses here, we are gonna walk now"
Franz and Albert did as they were told tieing their horses to a tree branch. As they did they continued to walk behind Nikola.
"Come here walk next to me"
He looked behind him to call them over
"You both know that our family is important..."
They both nodded their heads
"I think it the time you both get married and have children."
"All right we will start looking"
Said Albert trying to get his father's approval. As Franz just quietly stared at the ground. He knew what his father's next words were going to be.
"But you do know it can't be anyone. She needs to be from a noble family"
Those words hit Franz's hard. His heart belonged to a woman who wasn't noble. She was a girl from the village. A Milkman's
daughter. She had beautiful dirty blond hair and a beautiful smile. Her name was Margaret. Franz truly loved her since the day they met.He met her in a bar as she was working. Some savages were giving her a hard time. Franz saw that and helped her. She wanted to thank him by giving him a free drink on the house. But Franz declined and told her that she could thank him by going on a walk with him. That was the moment he fell in love. But he should have known that they weren't gonna last forever. As he was thinking his father's words interrupted.
"At least one of you needs to, and I'm looking at you, Franz. You are the oldest and the next man of the house. And you Albert you don't need to be so strict about the class of your wife but if she is noble even better"
Albert was somehow happy he had more women to choose from. But he planned to marry a woman of status. So he can make his father proud.
He glanced at his brother and saw a straight face. He knew something was wrong but he dared not speak. Albert didn't wanna put his brother in some possible trouble with their father.
"Is that all Father"
Said Franz trying to act normal
"It is now we can go home. Also, I didn't inform you in a week my friend from Austria will visit us with his family. if I recall right he has a daughter. Franz, I will be happy if you talk to her. If you marry her, that would give us even more connections to Austria."
"Of course Father I will"
Said, Franz
