Author's Note: This was originally supposed to just be the one shot that I had mentioned in the latest chapter but as I was writing that one my brain seemed to have other ideas. This idea is similar but different than the one I had mentioned before. I'm still planning to do the one shot idea but for now I hope you enjoy this mini story. This one is taking place a few months before the events in my main story in which Mal will be 3 still.

"She's doing it again," Carlos whispered to Jay, his eyes glued on the small 3 year old who was clutching her stomach with her tiny hands. The tears flowing down her face and the small whimpers of pain escaping from her mouth. Mal had been this way for a few hours now. They had thought it was just a normal stomach ache and would pass, but here they were a few hours later and Mal looked worse than ever.

Her face growing paler and her tiny form cocooning herself within the covers in Evie's bed. Her small body shaking and her hands still clinging to her stomach. "We need Evie."

"No we're not bothering Evie!" The two boys argue back and forth. Normally Evie would be here taking charge of the situation, but her mother had been furious with her lately for skipping out on too many lessons. She had practically locked Evie up in their castle for now forcing her to work on her princess act. Evie had been a complete mess of hysterics when her mother had locked her in claiming that they needed her and Mal needed her. She couldn't leave them, especially Mal.

The boys had assured her though that they could take care of themselves and would look after Mal. That was before Mal started getting sick. "We don't need Evie, we can handle this," Jay ordered to Carlos. Deep down in the pit of his stomach he knew that they probably did need Evie.

She was the one more skilled in this department, but he also knew how Evie's mother was. She was already furious with Evie for all the missed lessons. Last time she had skipped out on too many she ended up being chained to the bed forced to starve until she lost the weight she had gained. The Evil Queen claimed she had gained too much and was falling behind.

The two of them had taken turns sneaking her food not much. That would just make things worse but enough just to keep her alive. That wasn't the worst of it though there were way worse things that happened during that time. She didn't talk about it with them but he could still remember Evie's broken form when she had finally made it back to them.

The way she would flinch and tense up anytime they would get close to her. It had taken them days to get her back to somewhat herself again. Mal had been with her mother at the time something they all three were grateful for. Not that Mal was with her mom, but because she didn't have to see Evie in that broken shell of herself.

He didn't want Evie to go through that pain again because of them forcing her to disobey her mom. They could handle this. Carlos shook his head, his eyes still not leaving Mal. Her small whimpers of pain starting to grow more and more louder and intensely. "Jay she's getting worse!"

"We're not getting Evie!" While the two boys continued to argue Mal continued to get worse. Her small body began to feel like it was on fire as the pain in her side continued to get sharper and stronger with every passing second.

Everything felt like it was spinning and her mind felt foggy. She didn't understand what was happening but she didn't like it. It was too much. It was too much. No matter how much she tried she couldn't get the pain to stop. Mal knew it was weakness but she didn't care. "MAKE IT SOP! MAKE IT SOP!" Mal wailed out practically at the top of her little lungs. Her body began to twist and turn. The sharpness getting stronger as if she was being punished.

"Okay I take it back we need Evie," Jay quickly replied. His heart racing, practically pounding out of his chest at the sound of Mal's agony riddled screams. This was bad, this was really bad. Carlos slowly nodded his body almost frozen in place.

He didn't understand what was going on. Mal had gotten sick before she had gotten extremely sick before but not like this. This was something entirely different. Mal never screamed and cried like this. Even the night they had almost lost her she didn't even scream like this.

"Go get her now!" Jay practically hissed out, snapping Carlos out of his frozen state. He knew he shouldn't be snapping at the younger boy like this. Carlos was a sensitive soul especially with the way his mother treated him but he was in panic mode. Evie was the one with the medical skills. He didn't know what to do in this situation.

Mal was deteriorating by the second. Her face continuing to grow paler and paler, her shaking and thrashing getting more intense, and her agony riddled screams getting louder and louder.

"Right, I'm on it!" Carlos quickly replied. His body almost on autopilot as Mal's screams continued to play in his head over and over again. He knew this was a desperate situation. Carlos immediately took off running in search of Evie.

"Well well look who we have here," A voice calls out. Carlos recognizes that sly voice. His body immediately tensing up. He didn't want to show fear, but he was already in a vulnerable state of mind right now. Not only was his mind still racing about what was happening to Mal the heart wrenching thought of losing her, but he was all alone.

He didn't have Jay or Evie with him like he normally would. Carlos watched as she circled around him, her eyes gleaming with her signature smirk displayed on her lips. He closed his eyes trying to control his breathing. "I don't want to fight."

Her eyebrows raise and he can tell what she's thinking. She's thinking this is some sort of trap. He doesn't blame her. It would be the perfect trap. Send out your vulnerable more weak member make it seem as though he's alone and then when they're least expecting it bring in the others. That wasn't why he was here though. He needed to get to Evie's castle.
