reze turns to zize who chirps towards her. reze takes her father's bow and looks around, she was alone. though she swore she could hear jake's foot steps a minute earlier. 

reze takes a look at her father before running to zize. they take to the sky, reze's eyes catch on her mother and sister, leading the children away from the wreaks. reze turns back, Tsu'tey and the others hunter fly towards her. 

Tsu'tey looks at reze, his face falling at the sight of her fathers bow in her hands. "there is no use!" Tsu'tey calls, "there machines, are too strong!" 

"we now search for anyone alive, take them to the others!" reze commands, "save anyone you can!" 

parker Selfridge watches a video feed of the destruction on one of the monitors. Max and norm stare in shock. 

"pull the plug."  

a trooper crosses to the console and grabs the handle of the master breaker. The strings are cut. Jake flops to the ground, limp. 

Elsewhere in the smoky Hell, Grace slumps unconscious. The crying kids pull at her. Mo'at and neytiri leading a group of Omaticaya, comes upon the scene.She grabs the kids and pulls them away, leaving Grace's avatar helpless in the path of the flames. 

"we have to bring her." neytiri looks at her mother. "it is grace!" 

Then the top clamshell of Jake's unit is yanked upward, and troopers grab him, zip-tie his wrists, jake stares off into the distance, looking at grace who is ripped from her own pod.

reze lands a few feet from her family, the clan parts as she walks through, a few whispering and crying out at the sight of the bow in her hands. she rubs the tears from her eyes, looking at her mother who collapses to her knees', a heartbreaking cry leaving her lips. neytiri cry's out, wrapping her mother in a hug. 

reze stands Infront of them, the bow falls from her hands and she watches the scene infront of her. eyes flicker to grace laying to the side, her heart sinks. that mean's jake is out there somewhere. 

if grace is down, that means so is jake. reze's eyes widen and she turns around, only to run into tsu'tey, he grabs her shoulders. 

"you need to stay" he mutters. 

"but jake-!" 

"your mother and sister need you more" he speaks, reze glances back at her mother and neytiri, slowly nodding her head she moves to walk over to them. Reze's fingers pick at the necklace around her neck.

the next morning Dawn light paints the massive arches  of magnetic rock above the Well of Souls the Omaticaya refugees are clustered around a central rock outcropping which forms a kind of dais and altar. Shafts of dawn light reach to the bottom of the grotto, lighting the mother tree.

Ancient and gnarled, it grows in the center of the rock. Its roots spread down to the grotto floor, where they merge with the roots of the willows ringing the Well forming a braided mat resembling the surface of a brain. 

Mo'at stands on the dais, leading them in a chant "Wise ancestors who live within Eywa, guide us. Give us a sign." 

reze and neytiri stand next to each other, tsu'tey stands a few feet below. he was the new olo'ectan.

The way I had it figured, Toruk is the baddest cat in the sky. Nothing attacks him. So why would he ever look up?

The Omaticaya people lift their voices in a song filled with tragic loss and yearning for deliverance. a shadow crosses Reze's face, her eyes flicker up.
