SHANAYA

My peaceful slumber was disrupted by the alarm's incessant ringing, prompting me to stretch and silence it.

After a leisurely 15 minutes of snuggling back into bed, I finally got up and began my morning routine.

A refreshing washroom break, followed by Fajr salah, and then a brisk jog at the nearby park to get my blood pumping.

Post-workout, I returned home, had a nutritious breakfast, and headed to the office in my sleek Porsche.

As I entered the office, my colleagues greeted me with warm smiles, and I acknowledged them with a nod.

My secretary followed me to my cabin, briefing me on my schedule and handing me some important files.

After a productive morning, my phone rang, breaking my focus. Seeing the caller ID my heart started to race at an unknown level.

I smiled widely wondering why he called me? Let it ring a few times before answering.
"Hey, Mr. Shahnawaz," I said.

"Hello, Miss Armani," he replied.

"How's your day going?" he asked.

"Nothing much, just the usual," I replied.

"Oh, it seems like you're busy, I'll call you later," he said.

"No, no, it's fine, please go ahead," I said, eager to continue our conversation. There was something about talking to him that brightened my day.

"Have your employees started working on the upcoming project?" he asked.

"Yes, they began on Saturday, but I think we need to schedule a meeting to move forward with the plan," I replied.

"I was thinking the same thing," he agreed.
"I'll let you know when the meeting is scheduled, okay?" He asked.

"Okay, sounds good," I said.

We both fell silent for a moment, the silence between us was palpable, until he broke the silence by asking, "Have you had lunch yet?"

"I was just about to," I replied.

"Same here, Miss Armani," he said with a chuckle.

"Well, enjoy your lunch then," I said.
Bye, he bid farewell and we ended the call.

My heart raced uncontrollably as I hung up the phone. The way he addressed me by my surname sent shivers down my spine, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest. But a nagging thought lingered - was I reading too much into our interactions?

Did he see me as just a business partner, or could he possibly feel the same spark I did? What if he'll always view me as just his business partner?

Who knows if he'll reciprocate my feelings, which have been growing since the moment I met him?

What if I'm expecting too much from him, even before truly knowing him? Ugh, I'll drive myself crazy if I think about it any further - I need to stop now. I pushed the thoughts aside, chiding myself for getting ahead of myself.

After all, I barely knew him! My heart yearned to know him better. I found myself craving more encounters, more conversations, and more moments with him.

It was as if my heart had already formed a connection, leaving me eager to explore the depths of this newfound fascination.

Shaking off the distraction, I refocused on my work and checked in with the team I'd hired for our project, reminding them about the upcoming meeting.
