"The white one or the blue one?" Chris asked you holding up a shirt in each hand, you rolled your eyes and sighed as you peered your eyes out of the book you were holding.
"I'm trying to read here," you replied peaking up from your book. You had lost count on the number of times you had helped Chris out with a dates, be it choosing what to wear or where to go or hyping him up when you were out together. Lately though you were growing sick and tired of it, it was starting to take up too much of your time when you were together. Sure your feelings for Chris had changed slightly in the past few months but this had nothing to do with that. It felt like every moment you spent with him now he was either on his phone on a dating app or talking about dates. You miss the Chris you used to talk to for hours about everything and nothing all at the same time, going on walks and adventures. It had all changed lately and you were starting to not enjoying being in Chris's company as much as you used to. It didn't help that since you found yourself single eight months ago your dating life wasn't going well at all, maybe because you were spending more time focusing on Chris's love life.
"Please Y/N I really want this date to go well," Chris pleaded with you and you knew you found those blue green eyes hard to resist.
"Then wear the one you feel most comfortable in," you replied with a small sigh before turning your attention back to the book.
"What's the matter? The past couple of weeks you've not been yourself?" Chris noted placing the blue shirt back in his wardrobe, leaving the white one out.
"I've just been a bit stressed," you responded, despite everything it was nice that he had still noticed you weren't completely yourself. One of the reasons Chris and yourself had developed a deep friendship was because he was incredibly caring, you met in school and instantly struck up a friendship because he was so different to other teenage boys. Yes he was into his football and FIFA but he sat and listened to you when you had problems and was one of the few not to make inappropriate comments after puberty hit you like a ton of bricks.
"Work or life?" Chris asked sitting next to you on the bed. You put your book down and looked at him, careful to not stare at him. His eyes sparkled when he was up to mischief which was often and were such an unusual and beautiful mix of blue and green, his soft curls, his freckles, his facial hair which framed his face giving him a strong jaw. His smile was your favourite thing about him though was his smile especially the cheeky one he gave with his tongue poking out of his mouth slightly. Right now though he looked a little concerned at you, you sent him a small smile which didn't quite reach your eyes and patted his knee, ignoring the electricity flowing through you.
"Bit of everything," you replied earnestly your smile fading. Now it was Chris's turn to frown.
"Did you want to talk about it?"
"Not really," you replied quickly although you head was screaming yes, just tell him, tell him. "You know what Chris I think I'm just going to go home," you announced placing the book back into your bag.
"Oh, okay. Well you're coming out for drinks with us all on Saturday right?" Chris asked hopeful. You nodded with a smile you didn't really feel like going and watching Chris try and talk to a load of girls but you knew if you said no he would coerce you into going, he had some power over you.
You collected your stuff and said goodbye to Chris, shutting his bedroom door behind you. You walked into the open plan living room and kitchen area where George was getting a drink.
"Oh hey Y/N. How are you?" He asked and you nodded sheepishly. One drunken evening you ended up admitting to ArthurTV you liked Chris and the little nerd had only known for months already and had a confession of his own, him and George talked about it all the time. Since then you had been a little awkward around George and Arthur who you had also known since school, you just didn't want to face your feelings because they knew they would ask you to do something about it.
