Adaline's pov:

I hurried towards the bathroom, spilling all the contents that were left in my stomach into the toilet, I tried holding my hair back but it was a very difficult task due to my current state. A few minutes passed of just me and the toilet seat having a staring contest. I sighed and rose to my feat with a little stumble, walking to the sink I began washing my mouth to get rid of the horrid stench of vomit.

My head boomed and my heart thumped loudly, the image of my mothers head still stuck in my vision. Her neck was covered in blood and her eyes were rolled to the back of her head, her jaw ajar for the world to see her empty mouth. No tongue, no teeth. But what concerned me at most was the grinning man that was making directed eye contact with me. Why was he doing this? How did he get my mothers head that decayed years ago? Was it all a figure of my imagination?

No...I saw him, he was real. However it all didn't make sense, my mother was dead. Suddenly, I heard the door fly open from its hinges. I went to hurriedly close the bathroom door, although, it wouldn't close fully. I slowly and carefully opened the door only to reveal my so-called soulmate staring right back at me with a look I couldn't quite decipher.

"Whats wrong? Are you hurt? Why are you crying-"

I cut him off with a harsh tone, "why did you lock my door?!"

"...I'm sorry, love. I just wanted to keep you safe, I-"

"Well you didn't, imbécile! Tu me Mets encore plus en danger!"
[Moron] [you just put me in more danger.]

His brows furrowed in confusion, the latter not making any sense to him. He sighed and shifted from one leg to the other, looking down at me with his unmistakably gorgeous eyes, "I'm so sorry, red. It's my fault, I shouldn't have locked you up..."

I looked up at him, the anger in my eyes slowly fading away at his sudden apology. With a small smile reluctantly making its way to my lips, I gently hugged his torso, "it's alright, I understand." I cooed, although I shot my head up to look at him with stern glare, "however, if you ever make that mistake again, Je vais déchirer vos organes jusqu'à ce que vous ne soyez plus que chair et os."
[I will tear your organs apart until you are nothing but flesh and bones.]

His arms quickly wrap around my waist, "I assume that would be a threat, darling?"

I rolled my eyes and nodded. I don't even know who this man is but I can't help but feel this feeling I've never felt before, all the fear and anxiety immediately vanished from my body as soon as I heard his soothing voice.

He gently wrapped his large hand over my smaller one and lead me to the small love couch in the corner of the room. As we sat down, I pulled my legs to my chest and rested my head on his bicep. Slowly, I felt his arm wrap around my frame as he glanced at me with his gentle emerald orbs.

"Red...could you tell me what happened? Why I...placed you in such danger?", he questioned, his voice sounding remorseful and hurt.

I sighed and closed my eyes, "If you really want to know...I'll have to start from the beginning."

"Take your time, red. I'll listen.", he reassured as he held me tightly to his frame.

I sighed, "it was the day me and my...mother..were going to visit my grandmother, Giselle was her name. She was a very kind woman and a lovely grandmother. Anyway, I had accidentally hit my head on a wall that day. My mother," I let out a sigh, holding back a sob. "...she ran to check if I had received any wounds, which I didn't. Afterwards she reminded me to collect my backpack. I snatched it and went to follow my mother, however she was already outside..." I felt his palm slowly caressing my cheek, his finger wiping away at a...tear. I look up at him with my glossy eyes, he nodded for me to continue. I placed my head back on his bicep, "I-i.. stepped outside, calling for my mother... although she wouldn't answer. I kept calling and calling, until I decided to look into the forest. I was forbidden to go there, but I had to look. I went in, hoping to find my mother...I did.."

I glanced up at him again, he had a slight warm smile, "that's wonderful, red."

"I wasn't done..."

"I'm sorry, love. Go on."

" I found her...dead."

My eyes were on contact with him, fear of what I said might affect what we have now ate at me hungrily. His eyes slowly began to widen. Swiftly, he embraced me in a warm hug, holding me close and not ever letting go.

In a low whisper, I added, "today...I saw a man... behind a tree, h-he held my mama's...head." I felt his arms possessively tighten around me as I spoke those last words as child would've done.

"I'm deeply sorry, red. I would've never imagined something like that to happen to someone so innocent..." He backed away slightly and cupped my cheek in his palm.

I unconsciously leaned into his touch, suddenly, a grumbling sound echoed in the room that was filled with silence, a sly smile crept onto my face with a hint of embarrassment, "I haven't eaten..."

His face grew shook as he processed what information I just filled him with, "it's almost eleven thirty and you still haven't eaten?!"

He didn't wait for an answer as he swooped my body into his arms in a bridal style and stomped out of the room. I was clinging to his shirt for dear life just to not fall off. After a few turns and going down a flight of steps. He set me down in front of a door. I neated my clothes slightly before glancing upwards, only to find a large room that contained three long tables, the middle one had two slightly bigger chairs than the rest at the head of it.

I glanced up at Hunter, I assumed was his name, with a worried look. He glanced back at me, "isn't it time you met the pack, red?"
