Alexander's POV

Guess what!!!

Leonidas woke me up. Yes,  I know. What a surprise.
The day didn't start well.
So , I woke up early. No problem. I will go to eat.

Nope!!!

All my family was already there . When I say all my family I mean my uncle, my aunt and my anoying, know-it-all  older cousin. Hopefully his sister was there aswell, Zoe.
She was the only one that understood me.We helped it's other.

She had an aranged marriege and that was unfair. She was only  14. She couldn't do anything about it.

When I walked towards them, she ran and hugged me. We had 1 year to meet because she couldn't leave the house. I was happy for a moment until John came and "lightly" punched me in the arm .

"So you are a man now, ha . You don't look like one, shorty". He said with a smug snile.
He was tall and muscular. A true man and warrior ( as he said).
He was 15 years old and I was 13. I could become like him. I had 2 years to grow up.

I didn't want to be like him! Despite my uncle's sayings.

He was the loved child. The first son. He could get whatever he wanted. In contrast with Zoe who could do nothing.
They always unknowledged her mistakes and flaws and never her values .
Long story short, he was a spoiled brat.

So wait till you hear my comeback.

Waitttt!

"I am twice the man you are . And 1/4 of your fat belly. If you know what 1/4 means".

Zoe laught.
Pure joy.
My day just got better.
His on the other hand was getting worse.
He couldn't say anything. And when he tried to punch me again, my uncle, his father, came and stoped him.

"That's not the present that Alexander would want John. You are grounded for two days . No gifts, no training and less eating.
Zoe laught again!
John complained. "Grounded for two days"! He was furious. "I am going to tell Mom" .
All of us laught including my uncle.
"That's the best present". I said .
"That's not the only one. "Happy birthday ". My uncle replied and handed my a small sheath with a sword .

It reminded of me . It was small and light . But sharp and useful. It's color was bronze. It looked like wooden but I assure you it wasn't. It would come in handy for any purpose. The best thing was that you could hide it easily. I swore to myself I would only use it for self defense.

"Thank you. That's one of the best gifts I ever gotten".
"You deserve it" Zoe said . I wanted to say that she deserved much more but I couldn't.

The screaming of  my Aunt shocked me . "He did what"!!!

"Ohh noo". Was uncle's only response.
She run towards him. "How could you do such thing to my lovely child ".
She was blabbering when she noticed me.
"Oh I didn't see you there. Happy birthday ". She said and continued screaming at her husband.

Eventually, John was ungrounded, I had a dagger and Zoe was ignored by her mother. (An awesome endgame). We all sat on the table that my mother had prepared with the breakfast (bread, olives...). I was ready to take a bite but......

Nope!!!

My dad  ordered me to get up and dress with a more formal cloak so we can go to the agora and buy all the ingredients and stuff for the party.
