A/N: "I See The Light" (Tangled)

Sophie's POV:

My dress was a beautiful shade of ice blue, I walked into my room, and the first thing that caught my eye was the dress hanging on the back of my door. It was a stunning shade of ice blue, the exact color of Keefe's mesmerizing eyes. My heart skipped a beat as I ran my fingers over the soft fabric, imagining how it would look when I put it on later that evening.

As I started getting ready, the nerves started to kick in. What if Keefe didn't ask me to the dance? What if he had already made other plans, or worse, what if he was going with someone else? I tried to push those thoughts out of my mind, focusing instead on the excitement of the evening ahead. The dance was sure to be a night to remember, regardless of who my date was.

I carefully did my hair and makeup, wanting everything to be perfect for tonight. I slipped into the dress and couldn't help but smile at my reflection in the mirror. The ice blue fabric shimmered in the soft light of the room, and I felt like a princess getting ready for the ball. Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I grabbed my bag and headed to the school for the dance.

I walked through the empty hallways of Foxfire Academy; the quiet hum of anticipation followed me. The air was charged with excitement, and the soft glow of fairy lights draped across the walls added a magical touch to the school preparing for the upcoming dance. The decorations were in full swing, creating a whimsical ambiance that made my heart skip a beat. I couldn't help but smile as I passed by the intricate paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling, casting a warm, inviting glow that danced across the polished floors.

I knew the dance was going to be a night to remember, and I couldn't wait to see the transformation that awaited us all. Every year, the students and staff came together to create a wonderland of lights and colors, turning the drab school into a breathtaking spectacle that sparkled like a hidden gem. The theme this year was "Shining in The Starlight", and the decorations mirrored the magic of the woodland realm, with twinkling stars and lush greenery adorning every corner.

The moment I walked into the gym; my heart skipped a beat. The decorations were even more stunning in the evening light, twinkling and shimmering like something out of a fairy tale. The music was already playing, and a few brave souls were out on the dance floor, moving to the beat. I scanned the room, looking for a familiar face, hoping against hope that I would see Keefe standing there, waiting for me.

But as the minutes ticked by and Keefe still hadn't shown up, my heart sank. I tried to push down the disappointment that threatened to bubble up inside me, reminding myself that the night was still young, and anything could happen. I spent the first part of the dance catching up with friends, laughing and chatting as we swayed to the music. But my eyes kept straying to the entrance, hoping to catch a glimpse of Keefe walking through the doors. Just when I was starting to lose hope, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

Turning around, my heart stopped as I found myself face to face with Keefe. He was dressed in a sharp suit that matched my dress perfectly, and a warm smile lit up his face. "Come with me Foster, I have something to show you." he asked, his voice soft but laced with a hint of playfulness.

My heart leaped in my chest, and I eagerly took his hand, allowing him to lead me away from the crowded gymnasium. We stepped outside into the cool night air, and I marveled at the sight before me. Keefe had transformed a secluded spot on the school grounds into a magical wonderland of lights and stars. Fairy lights adorned the branches of nearby trees, casting a warm, ethereal glow over the area.

Glow-in-the-dark stars twirled above our heads, creating patterns that seemed to dance with the music in the distance.

As we stood there, bathed in the soft light of the fairy lights, Keefe turned to me, his eyes searching mine. "Foster," he began, his voice steady but tinged with emotion. "I know we've been through a lot together, and I can't imagine going to this dance with anyone else but you." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box, opening it to reveal a delicate corsage made of ice-blue flowers. "Will you do me the honor of being my date tonight?"

A rush of warmth flooded through me, and tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I nodded, the words catching in my throat. Keefe smiled, a genuine, heartwarming expression that made my heart skip a beat. He carefully fastened the corsage around my wrist, his touch gentle and sure.

As we danced under the twinkling lights, the world around us faded away, leaving only the two of us in our own little bubble of happiness. The music swirled around us, the soft melody a soothing backdrop to the unspoken emotions that charged the air between us.In that moment, surrounded by the magic of the night and the warmth of Keefe's presence, I knew that this dance would be a memory I would treasure forever. And as we swayed in each other's arms, lost in the beauty of the moment.

And then, as we stood beneath a canopy of stars, Keefe's eyes softened, his expression tender and vulnerable. In that fleeting instant, I saw beyond the facade of confidence and mischief, glimpsing the depths of emotion that swirled within him. It was a revelation that sent a shiver down my spine, a realization that the connection we shared went beyond mere friendship.

With a final swirl and dip, our dance concluded, leaving us breathless and exhilarated. And as Keefe pulled me into his arms, holding me close in a magical embrace, I felt the walls around my heart crumble, replaced by a flood of warmth and affection that threatened to overwhelm me. In that embrace, I found solace and reassurance, a sense of belonging that resonated deep within my soul.

I looked into Keefe's eyes, seeing in them a reflection of my own feelings, a mutual understanding that transcended words. And as we stood there, bathed in the soft glow of the fairy lights, I knew that this dance was just the first step in a journey that would take us to places we had never imagined.

As the night wore on, we sat side by side on a blanket spread beneath the starlit sky, our conversation punctuated by comfortable silences and shared laughter. It was in those quiet moments that I truly saw Keefe for who he was, a soul as complex and multifaceted as the constellations above us.

The stars above us seemed to twinkle in approval, blessing our newfound connection with their celestial light. And as I entwined my fingers with Keefe's, feeling the warmth of his hand in mine, I knew that this night would forever be etched in my heart as the beginning of something extraordinary, something magical.
