After dropping the slayer off, I race back up the mountain. There, I'm met with Rui speaking to my son who seems cautious but happy.

"Yay! I have a big brother!" My son cheered. Rui looked a bit happy, hugging my son. That's when their heads turn to me just as I make it near them. "Mother!" They both call to me.

I open my arms for them as they both come crashing into me. I chuckle lightly, patting their heads. "I hope I did not worry you my dear boys?" I asked them. They both shook their heads while still having their faces nuzzled into me.

I chuckled at this, getting up and carrying them. Rui was taken a back by me carrying him on my back but, soon leaned into me. I made a promise to be in his family and I'm going to keep it. Meaning I'm going to treat him like my own son.

We soon reach where he and his family resides. They all seemed to be very timid and whispering among themselves. Once they notice us though, they stopped and turned to look at the three of us.

Rui slides off my back with ease as I set my son down. "What were you all doing to let a demon slayer up here?.." Rui asked them coldly. They all stiffen, including the 'father'. After a few seconds all of the siblings point to the 'mother'.

"She's at fault Rui! She's not doing a good job a patrolling the area!" The sister claims. The mother only looks down, readying herself for a punishment.

"Is that so 'mother'?" Rui calls, looking over to her. I can sense the rising tension, as Rui starts to walk to her. I lightly grab Rui by his shoulders, making him stop in his tracks. "Rui, aren't I your mother now? She can just be a sister?" I asked him, trying to defuse the situation.

He looked over to me, and I can see the gears in his head turning...

'Is she.. jealous? Is she jealous that I didn't call her mother?' I thought as I stared at her. A small smile graces my lips at the thought.

I slowly walk over to her and hug her, which she returns. "Of course mother, you are forgiven this time 'sister'.." I told to my old 'mother'. The look of fear on her face was priceless.

Mother patted my head gently, to which I lean into her hand. Her embrace was so warming and comforting, I hadn't felt this in so long. I want to keep it forever..

But..

I also want to keep her happy. Her and my new brother..

They're the only ones who have treated me like real family. Even my new little brother was so happy to be with me. I want to squeeze his little cheeks...

I burry my face into her chest as she slightly hums. Mother sways while holding me tenderly, patting my back. She conversing with my 'family' at the same time. The world around me starts hazing as I go numb in her arms. Am I falling asleep?.. I haven't done that in hundreds of years...

He's asleep..

I look over at the spider family and I can see them visibly relax. They all seemed so stressed by Rui..

"Thank you.. thank you so much.." the mother demon thanks with tears. She was beside me, hugging me softly. Most likely to not wake Rui up.

"It's no problem at all.. I noticed you all seemed.. stress.. Is that normal?.." I asked them in worry. They only respond with turning away and looking at the ground. My worry spikes but, I lift Rui into a loving hold, carrying him into the slider house.

This was most likely gonna be the last of mine and my son's freedom for a long time...
