The next morning, Mia woke up to the smell of coffee brewing and the sound of Jake and Liam chatting outside the tent. She stretched and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, feeling a mix of excitement and dread about the day ahead. Today was the day she planned to talk to Jake about her feelings for Liam.

As she crawled out of the tent, she found Jake flipping pancakes and Liam pouring coffee. "Good morning, sunshine!" Jake said, flashing her a wide grin. "Ready for another adventure?"

"Absolutely! What do you have in mind?" she asked, trying to keep her tone upbeat, even though her heart raced with anxiety.

"I was thinking we could rent some kayaks and paddle around the lake," Jake suggested. "It'll be a great way to explore and enjoy the scenery."

Mia exchanged a glance with Liam, who nodded in agreement. "Sounds fun! Let's do it!" she replied, her heart pounding at the thought of spending more time with both of them.

After breakfast, they packed up their things and drove to the lake's rental station. The sun shone brightly overhead, and Mia felt a wave of excitement wash over her as they selected their kayaks. Jake hopped into one, while Liam and Mia paired up in another.

As they paddled out onto the water, the laughter echoed around them. The rhythmic splashes and the sound of the water against the kayaks created a peaceful atmosphere, but Mia's mind was racing. She knew she needed to find a way to talk to Jake soon.

"Hey, look over there!" Jake called, pointing to a group of ducks swimming by. "Let's see who can catch up to them!"

With that, he paddled away, leaving Mia and Liam alone in their kayak. The moment felt both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

"Are you okay?" Liam asked, glancing at her with concern.

"Yeah, just... thinking about how to talk to Jake later," she admitted, biting her lip.

Liam nodded, his expression serious. "You're ready for this, Mia. Just be honest. He cares about you, and I think he'll understand."

"I hope so," she said, feeling a mix of determination and anxiety. "It's just hard to figure out the right time."

"Let's enjoy the ride for now," Liam suggested, a warm smile returning to his face. "We can talk more later."

As they paddled around the lake, the beauty of the day began to ease her nerves. The sun warmed her skin, and she felt a sense of freedom as they navigated the gentle waves together. Laughter erupted between them, and for a moment, she was able to push her worries aside.

After a couple of hours on the water, they returned to shore, where Jake was already waiting, clearly thrilled with the outing. "That was awesome! Who knew we were such great paddlers?" he said, grinning.

"Yeah, we definitely made a good team," Mia replied, feeling lighter despite the weight of her upcoming conversation.

As they packed up the kayaks, Mia glanced over at Liam, who gave her an encouraging nod. They decided to take a break and enjoy a picnic lunch on the shore. Jake spread out a blanket and unpacked sandwiches and snacks while Mia helped him.

"Thanks for being such a great sport, you guys," Jake said, taking a bite of his sandwich. "I love spending time like this. It's the best part of summer."

"Me too," Mia said, her heart swelling at her brother's happiness. She felt a pang of guilt, knowing she was about to potentially shake things up between them.

As they enjoyed lunch, Mia tried to keep the conversation light, laughing and joking with Jake and Liam. But her mind kept drifting back to the conversation she needed to have.
