You & Me

I danced in the street
And you danced too
We counted the stars
And did what we do
You spun me around in circles above the ground
And I sang you a song
I almost fell down
And you laughed along

We hid from our neighbors
And from our friends
I worried about gossip
And you told me it never ends
We were young and free
And thinking about nothing beyond the night
You kissed me hard
And I thought I saw the light

I danced in the street
And you watched with a smile
I sang out loud
And you tried to change the dial
You wanted me to come over
And for the night, to stay
I said that I couldn't
And you promised me one day

Now I'm writing about you
And it's not all angry or sad
I'm writing in the present
And it's about nothing bad
You make me so happy
And it's so weird to me
You make me feel special
And maybe that's the key

We can be together
And it's great
We can hang out in the park
And go home late
We can sit on the corner
And talk for hours
We can go out dancing
And it doesn't turn sour

I could go on and on
But I'm scared of how I feel
I could run away
But I think we're kind of a big deal
I'm going to go to sleep
But I know I'll dream of your kiss
I'm going to be leaving in about a year
But I know I'll never forget this.
