It was evening, when Mom called out loudly, "Hey kids, dinner time!"

I hadn't seen Enzo since morning, and after lunch, Mom and Callie had been out grocery shopping. As usual, they got lost in the aisles, both of them being absolute shopaholics.

I closed my laptop, on which I had been rewatching my favorite Korean drama, Lovely Runner. Gosh, I love it so much. I mean, who doesn't? Have you seen Byeon Woo-seok? He is so, so hot.

Okay, Claire, back to earth, I reminded myself and headed downstairs. Mom would be super annoyed if I wasn't down by the second call.

By the time I reached the dining room, Casper was already home, and so was Enzo from wherever he had been.

I was about to sit down when Mom gave me the stink eye and said, "Claire, please go and clean your hands. And you too, Enzo."

Enzo started laughing as we walked to the sink to wash our hands. Just then, Callie came over and said cutely, "Hey sissy, can you help me?"

The sink was too high for her. Before I could help, Enzo picked her up and set her on the counter, saying, "Of course, Callie."

Callie grinned her sweet smile at Enzo. Well, I wasn't jealous—absolutely not—but do you blame me? My baby sister was starting to like someone else more than me. But then, Enzo is super sweet, so I guess I'm okay with it. I moved on to greet Casper.

"Casper, how was your day?" I asked as I sat down.

Casper smiled and replied, "Productive. So, Claire, what did you do today? Had some fun?"

I told him that I went to the beach and took a stroll around. Casper then turned to Enzo and said, "Enzo, why don't you take Claire to meet your friends tomorrow? You'll all have a good time."

Enzo, who had come to sit beside me, nodded and said, "Sure, why not. My friends and I are meeting tomorrow to play some music. It's just for fun, a creative pastime."

I replied, "Sure, why not. I guess it will be fun, and I could use some time outside the confines of my room."

Enzo smiled. "Don't worry, you'll have a great time."

Mom then served dinner, which was tomato and basil soup—my favorite—and it smelled amazing. Along with that, there was chicken gravy and fresh-baked bread, which she obviously bought from the bakery because she can't bake to save her life.

Casper kissed Mom and said, "This looks amazing, honey." Mom started blushing like a kid, and Callie screamed, "Ewww!" We all burst out laughing.
