CHAPTER 1
The First Thing She Does Is Tease Me In Russian

Masachika would often wake up from a relentless dream he'd always experience every single night.

In his recurring dream this time, he found himself in an opulent restaurant and was sitting at a table with a stunning silver-haired woman whose beauty surpassed all others. They were having dinner that night.

But there was a twist: whenever his guard slipped, she would ambush him with love-struck words, camouflaged by a language barrier. Each time this happened, Masachika would end up getting severely flustered and feel as though he was dying of embarrassment, which he literally does. Whenever it was over, he would often wake up with heavy breaths, as if he had woken up from a nightmare.

Gee. It feels like she's becoming even more aggressive, even though it's just a dream.

He couldn't believe it himself. His own dream had come back to haunt him. Was it perhaps the result of his endless wallowing in self-despair in the past?

But why now? He had already made amends and ensured that she was the happiest girl in the entire world. He was now a faithful man, determined to remove anything that threatened her happiness. So, why was he still feeling so negative about himself?

Ah, the enigma of self-doubt—the labyrinth where our own subconscious plays tricks on us. It's as if our minds revel in constructing confusing mazes of doubt, making us question ourselves.

Who's there?

Masachika, my friend, let me offer a perspective. Sometimes, our past mistakes haunt us like persistent ghosts. Even when we've made amends, the heart doesn't always listen to reason. It clings to old wounds, replaying memories with a sepia filter of guilt.

What are you even talking about?

Maybe it's because you used to be insensitive, and even though you've changed, traces of that old self linger. The burden of past mistakes can be relentless, gnawing away at our sense of worth.

I don't know what's going on anymore.

But remember this: redemption isn't a one-time act; it's a journey. And sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is ourselves. So keep your chin up. Keep moving forward. Keep making our girl happy. Be happy.

...You know what? I guess you're right. But you don't have to tell me what to do. I'm already dead set on making her happy.

That's the spirit!

After nodding to himself in self-gratification, Masachika smiled happily and sighed in relief. For a moment there, he was about to enter another state of self-depreciation. But the experience he had gained from everything he went through had triumphed over his self-destructive mindset. Now, he was just a simple, ordinary married man who had finally found rest and peace.

Wait a minute. I'm not dead. Why did you phrase it like that?

Masachika shook his head to escape the little world he had subconsciously created in his mind.

Not good. I better get off and start the day.

Stopping his thoughts from running rampant, Masachika shuffled to the bed's edge and slipped onto his slippers. However, he noticed that someone who should have shared the bed with him had disappeared. Puzzled, he lingered for a moment before stepping toward the door.

Alya waking up earlier than me? That's probably a first.

He stepped outside and yawned halfway through. But something unexpected happened, causing him to freeze on the spot.
