Chapter 9: The truth

Marjorie's POV

I feel Autumn stood behind me; but I ignore her and rush to Carly I don't climb on the bed because I didn't want to cause her to panic more than she already was "sweetie you need to wake up, you're okay, you're safe" I say to her softly Autumn comes in the room but I look to her "Autumn, can you please go back downstairs" I ask her quickly, my main concern is trying to get Carly to calm down and awake.

Autumn leaves the room with a nod, I notice Carly is still thrashing but not crying out anymore, I climb on to the bed that I was sat on previously before Autumn had arrived "baby wake up darling you are okay mama is here, can you wake up for me please" I say to her, I start to hum again because I noticed that she calmed down easily before when I was with her before. She slowly starts to stop thrashing around however I notice she was whimpering again; I hear what she is whimpering and it breaks my heart I start to rub her back when she moved closer to me and hum a bit louder so she can hear that I am near her. After a while I noticed, Carly has stopped moving, I look at her face and notice that her eyes are fluttering open, she wakes up and looks around I could tell she was still struggling with what ever the nightmare was about, she jumps slightly when she notices me and then I have my arms full with a sobbing 17-year-old. I just hold her close and whisper "Mama has got you, your safe my darling."

Carly's POV

I wake up and all I could remember was feeling like I was back in the moment with the guy, I felt someone rubbing my back and I jumped slightly when I realised it was my mama, I fling myself at her and just start sobbing, the nightmare was still running through me and I couldn't get myself to calm down, I hear her whisper "mama has got you, your safe my darling" I just start sobbing more "mama, it was scary I was back with the person who did this, I couldn't get away from him I felt like it was happening all over again" I get out between sobs, I cuddled closer to her and she just wraps her arms around me and slowly starts to rock me like a literal baby.

I could hear her humming a tune and I couldn't figure out why it was soothing me but I didn't care, all I cared about was being with my mama and I knew that I was safe with her. "Darling you're here with mama and nobody can hurt you when I with you okay, I will protect you" I hear mama say to me, I feel myself relax into her and rest my head onto her chest. "Carly sweetie, when you was asleep Autumn came round, but she was still here when your nightmare started sweetie, she followed me upstairs but I sent her back downstairs quickly" mama says to me, I just look at her shocked that Autumn knew that I was here, however it felt nice that the 'guard dog' was downstairs and nobody would hurt me with her or my mama around.

I release myself from her and quickly run down the stairs with her following behind me and straight into the living room and there sat on the couch was Autumn, she looked up when she heard me come in and then did the thing that I didn't expect was she opened her arms, that was the only thing I needed before running into her arms and clinging onto her mumbling "he hurt me Autie, he hurt me."

Marjorie's POV

When I told Carly that Autumn was still here, I didn't expect for to relax even further and then she suddenly released herself from our cuddle and run down the stairs, I follow behind her quickly and I however stop in the door way of the living room and just watch as Autumn stands up from where she is sitting and open her arms for Carly, my jaw dropped when Autumn gave Carly a tight hug when she had Carly in her arms, I heard Carly mumble "he hurt me Autie, he hurt me" I could feel myself get upset at how broken she sounded.

"Marjorie what does she mean somebody hurt her" I hear Autumn ask me, but I was shocked when she sat down and brought Carly on to her lap; seeing Autumn act so kind and caring to Carly made my heart start to beat fast. "Aut, that is Carly's story to tell, I'm sorry but I won't say anything if Carly doesn't want me to" I say to her whilst sitting on the couch near the chair that both Autumn and Carly are sitting, Autumn slowly lifted Carly's head so she is looking at her "Carly can you tell me what you mean" she says to her gently I see Carly look at me "It's your choice sweetie, I'm just here so if you can't let mama know okay" I say to her with a gentle smile, I see Autumn quickly look at me when I called myself mama but she quickly looked back at Carly. What I didn't expect for her to tell us both everything that happened.

Autumn's POV

When I heard the scream coming from upstairs followed by the loud wail of mama, I didn't expect to see Carly screaming and thrashing around on the bed in Marjorie's guest room bed. I watched Marjorie run over to the bed and knelt beside it I moved to follow her but quickly stopped when Marjorie told me to go back downstairs, I realised that something was seriously wrong I didn't like the feeling I had that it was bad.

I walked back downstairs and sit in the living room waiting for Marjorie to come downstairs to explain what was going on and why Carly was asleep upstairs in her house. I looked up when I heard footsteps on the stairs, I glanced at the clock and realised that Marjorie had been up there for over an hour; I looked over at the door way and Carly was stood there she had fresh tear tracks coming down her cheeks, I don't know what possessed me to but I open my arms and Carly ran straight into them and clung to me, I heard her mumble "he hurt me Autie, he hurt me."

I didn't expect for Carly to shorten my name like that, but it made my heart soften then I registered what she said, I see Marjorie with tears threatening to spill "Marjorie what does she mean somebody hurt her" I ask Marjorie, I sit down on the chair and bring Carly with me and move her onto my lap; I watch Marjorie's jaw drop at my actions. I watch Marjorie sit down on the couch whilst saying "Aut, that is Carly's story to tell, I'm sorry but I won't say anything if Carly doesn't want me to."

I gently lift Carlys head so that she is looking at me and say to her gently "Carly can you tell me what you mean" Carly quickly looks over to Marjorie and what Marjorie says next shocks me even more "It's your choice sweetie, I'm just here so if you can't let mama know okay" she tells Carly gently with a smile, I look over at Marjorie when she calls herself mama, but I turn my attention back to Carly, what she says next shocks me and Marjorie both.

Carly's POV

I look at Autumn and all I could see in her eyes was caring and compassion, I knew I had to tell both the full story of what happened that night. "I was walking home from work, it was still daylight outside and warm, I was about 10 mins away from home; I knew my parents where not home again they were away on a small vacation that I wasn't allowed to go because I was never allowed to be with them unless it suited them like family event or to their friends' parties. I felt like someone was following me but when I turned around nobody was behind me" I looked at Autumn and I could see she was getting more concerned because I knew she was shocked about me mentioning my parents "go on Carly" she says to me I take a deep breath and carry one with explaining everything to her.

I could see Marjorie in the corner of my eye and see she was shocked because I hadn't told her this before "I passed an alley way, and felt somebody grab me, he pinned me against the wall and said if I screamed he will hurt me worse; I struggled and tried to fight back, he had is hand over my mouth, then he pulled down my pants and then his, he moved his hand from my mouth and I kept saying no and to let me go, Autie the next thing I knew was pain down there it hurt so much, mama I didn't want it to happen. It felt like it was never going to end and then he stopped when he finished, he left me there whilst he walked away like it didn't happen, I quickly got myself together and ran home, when I got home, I got in the shower and washed it all away but I didn't feel clean, mama I couldn't get clean. My parents came home the next day, it was the weekend so I didn't have to do anything except from my chores; my dad wasn't happy with the cleaning so he started to shout at me and smacked me across the face, my mum came in and started to shout at me as well, I eventually got myself up of the floor and went back to my room; the last month and a half have been awful, but then I started to feel sick and noticed I had missed my period, that is when I took the pregnancy test and rang you mama" I eventually finished and all I did was scream and cry on Autumns lap.

"Come to mama darling" I hear Marjorie whisper to me; I look up and see she is knelt next to me and I just fall into her arms crying, I could tell Marjorie had tears in her eyes from just hearing her voice breaking. "Carly we will help you get through this me, your mama and everyone else at the nursery, we will keep you safe, whatever you decide to do with the pregnancy we will support you" Autumn whispers to me.
