Unexpected Family

Chapter 15: Preparing

Marjorie's POV

After getting the nursery ready for my grandchild which was so exciting  however seeing Carly's face was the best part, however it is now 1 month before Carly's due date and she was still working but me and Autumn had noticed she was slowly struggling with being on her feet all day. I was sat in the office with Autumn and was getting ready to leave with Carly since we was both on the early whilst Autumn was on the closing shift, I looked up when I heard the door open and saw Carly waddle into the room and could tell she was in pain by the way she was holding her back "you okay darling" I ask her and saw her walk over to me and I pulled her in for a hug "my back is sore" she whispers and I just hold her close and I see over her shoulder and saw Autumn get up from her desk and walk over to us, Autumn made sure Carly could see her before I watch her gently rub the base of Carly's back and chuckled when Carly groaned from the feeling "that feels good mumma" Carly whispered to us both and Autumn just kept rubbing "right, me and you are going to go home and get things sorted like your hospital bag and just have a some mama and daughter time" I say to the teen and feel her pull away from me and looked at me with wide eyes "hospital bag" she says to me and I nod my head "darling whilst you have a month till your due date, you should be prepared for anything happening, babies tend to come on their terms" I explain and saw Carly start to panic "don't panic, it's just so we are ready, me and mumma are going to help you" I say to Carly and see her still looking panicked but not as much.

Me and Carly both head out to where the car is parked after saying goodbye to Autumn, I lead Carly out to the car and help her get into the passenger seat and closed the door before walking to the drivers side and climb into the seat and started the car and started to pull out the car park "mama, what do I need to pack in my bag" I heard Carly ask me "well you need the essentials for the baby so diapers, outfits, wipes and a blanket for the baby and for yourself a outfit for coming home, pjs, nursing bras and some other bits that we will pack, if we need to I will search what to pack as well" I explain keeping my attention on the road "okay, thank you mama you're the best" Carly said to me and I look over quickly to see her lean back in her seat and rub her bump.

Carly's POV

I lean back in my seat and rub my bump when I feel my baby kick me, I look out the window and watch as the traffic goes past and soon see our house and mama pulls into the driveaway, I watch as mama gets out the car before walking around to my side and helps me get out the car since I struggle to get out since it was low down, once we are both out the car we walk up to the front door and head into the house, I head up the stairs and walk into my room and put my bag away and left my room and walked to the nursery that everyone helped set up for me and walked over to the rocking chair and lowered myself down and looked around the room and just let it sink in that under 1 month I will have my baby in my arms sat in this rocking chair, I look over to the door and see mama walk in with a suitcase and a smaller suitcase into the room "my love, lets pack these bags and then we will play some board games or watch some movies" she says to me and I slowly get up but after a few tries I just stay seated "mama can you help me up" I ask her and she walks over and helps me up out of my seat and I walk over and look at the list that mama had written out and I slowly get everything and hand it to mama who was packing the bag since it was on the floor. I was looking through the outfits I saw one that caught my eye and I knew I wanted to bring my baby home in this outfit, it was a cream coloured foot onesie that had teddy bear faces on the feet and a teddy bear hat that matched, it was the first outfit mama bought and I knew it was the right outfit to pack, I took it of the hanger and passed it to mama who smiled when she saw the outfit that I picked out and folded it and put it in the smaller suitcase and zipped it up once it was fully packed.

Once the smaller suitcase was packed for the baby essentials, me and mama walked out the nursery and walked to my room to pack my essentials and I sat on the edge of my bed whilst mama put the suitcase on the bed and opened it "mama, will you and mumma stay with me when I give birth" I ask her and saw her walk over to me and pull me into her for a hug "me and mumma will not leave your side okay, we will be with you from the moment you go into labour to when you give birth okay my love" she says to me and I relax into her knowing she and mumma wasn't going to leave me "what if I can't get you or mumma" I ask and feel her let me go and look at me in they eye "if it happens in the night then shout okay we will come running to you, if it happens when we are at work then ring us okay, which I need to speak to you about, but on the rare occasion if you can't get hold of us then ring Char or Sorscha okay" she explains to me and I nod my head at her to show I understand what she meant. I let go and start to pack what I needed for myself in the hospital and helped mama pack everything into the suitcase and between the two of us it didn't take long for the suitcase to be packed and soon we made our way down stairs and cuddled on the couch to chill out after a busy day of work and packing the suitcases.

Me and mama was sat on the couch when mama turned to me "Carly, me and mumma have been talking and we think its time for you to go on mat leave soon darling, we have noticed that you are struggling with being on your feet for long hours" she says to me and I understand why they have brought this up, I have started to struggle being on my feet after a couple of few hours and I have noticed that I'm a lot slower chasing after the children in the rooms "I think your right but I don't want to be home alone" I whisper to her and put my head on her shoulder "we will work something out okay, let's just chill out tonight and we will discuss it with mumma when she gets in" mama says to me and I just cuddle into her further and let her warmth and heartbeat calm me down, I feel the exhaustion hitting and I cuddle closer to mama and she wraps her arms around covers us both with a blanket "lets have a small nap" she whispered to me and I cuddle closer and place my head on her chest and close my eyes and fall asleep to her heartbeat.
