You set up the camera for the interview, your heart still racing from the unexpected start, he notices you trembling a little and looks away. You then settle into the chair across from him, his presence is both intimidating and intriguing. The room is filled with silence as you gather your thoughts and prepare to begin.
You take a deep breath. "Thank you for agreeing to this interview" you smile, trying to steady your voice. "I've been a fan of your work for a long time."
He squints slightly looking at you. You realize he's looking at the burn mark on your neck and he smirks slightly. "Appreciate it. So, what do you want to know?"
You glance at your notes, starting with the questions you had prepared "Well, to start, I would love to hear about the inspiration behind your latest album, The Eminem Show."
While he speaks, the tension begins to simmer down. His passion for music and his sincerity about his experiences draw you in, and you find yourself more at ease. The conversation flows naturally, with him sharing insights about his creative process, challenges, and his career.
You notice everything about him while he talks. The way he tries to hide his smile, his trouble maintaining eye contact, those small moments when his guarded exterior softens, and the way his eyes light up when he talks about his daughters.
As the conversation continues, the dynamic between you shifts. The professional boundaries blur slightly, replaced by a genuine connection and mutual respect.
By the end of the session, you're no longer just reading from your notebook, the discussion has taken a life of its own, filled with connections and moments of levity. You realize this interview is turning into something far more significant than you had expected.
As you wrap up, he leans back and adjusts himself, he's making eye contact now. "You ask good questions," he says "Not the usual shit I get."
You smile and blush, feeling a sense of accomplishment after the praise, "Thanks, your story is so inspiring, it's been great hearing it."
He nods and licks his lips slowly scooting towards you slightly, and there's a moment of silence that feels charged with unspoken possibilities. The prolonged eye contact isn't uncomfortable, but you can't shake the feeling that maybe this is the beginning of something much deeper.
