You yawn as you read mail, sipping a bitter black coffee. It never keeps you awake anymore, but you still buy them because you don't know what else to do in the mornings.

You quickly shuffle through the mail, as most of it is junk and spam. You nearly throw one onto the table until the label catches your eyes.

From: Shady Records
To: Y/N

Your mind starts racing. This can NOT be real. There's just no way. You've been listening to Eminem since he started his career and it has always been your dream to even get the chance to try and speak to the Slim Shady himself. You even had a crush on him when you first saw him, and quite frankly, you still do.

When you reached out to him, you never thought they would have actually replied back. You look around to see if there's some joke going on or if this is genuinely real life. You then look back down at the letter and remember that you haven't even opened it. They could've rejected your offer.

You slowly unseal the envelope, with your heart beating out of your chest. Your palms are sweaty and you're shaking as you slowly and carefully pull the folded up letter out of the envelope. You unfold the letter, you are genuinely trembling with anticipation.

The elegant letterhead of Shady Records is emblazoned at the top, you reach for your glasses and place them on the bridge of your nose before taking a deep breath and reading the contents:

Dear Y/N,

Thank you for reaching out and for your continued support of Eminem's work. We are pleased to inform you that your request for an interview has been approved. Eminem is interested in speaking with you and discussing his latest projects.

We have scheduled the interview for August 13th at 6:00PM, which will take place in his private studio, please arrive promptly and bring any questions or topics you would like to cover. We look forward to your visit and are excited about the opportunity for you to connect with Marshall.

Best Regards,
Shady Records

You're practically squealing after reading all of that. How is this real life? You pinch yourself to assure you're not dreaming. Seems you aren't. This is it — The opportunity of a lifetime.

You immediately start brainstorming topics to think about, making a mental note in your head. You shove all the mail into your bag, except you neatly and carefully place the letter from Shady Records into the envelope and seal it up again, then sprucely place the envelope into your bag and dash out of the coffee shop and to your small apartment in Detroit just down the block.

Your mind is racing with everything that you could say or do. You think back to your younger self listening to Eminem for the first time and how shocked she would be if you told her she would be interviewing THE Eminem in just a couple weeks. You open the door to your apartment and immediately put your 'The Eminem Show' CD into your CD player and write down topics until you physically can't stay awake anymore as you start nodding off to sleep with your headphones plugged into your portable CD player over a full notebook of topics.
