"He said WHAT?!" Sullyoon exclaimed causing echo in the school bathroom as Sunmi told her about the text Mark had sent, "he said he wanted to talk" Sunmi replied."Omg omg what did you say?" The friend asked excited, "I just told him that... I'll think about it" Sunmi said as she lowered her voice feeling a little embarrassed about it, expecting her friend to scold her after texting her ex boyfriend.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAA" Sullyoon yelled with excitement, "oh girl my eardrums" Sunmi said.
"I did not wanted to say anything about it but I always knew you both were going to reunite, realize that you're still in love with each other, get married and grow old together-" Sullyoon's words were interrupted by Sunmi who said "woa woa woa don't get too excited girl, I don't really think that's ever going to happen".
"Why not?!" The friend said as she pouted, "Let's be real here, we broke up a long time ago and have not seen each other since, also he has a girlfriend and I can't just break them apart that's not okay" Sunmi said as she fixed her hair in the bathroom mirror.
The two girls grabbed their stuff and left the bathroom as they still talked about the topic, once they were out someone came out of a bathroom stall "so he texted her huh... you won't take him away from me Sunmi, not this time" Natty said to herself in the mirror as she scrunched her eyebrows with anger.
༻Once school was over༺
Sunmi was sitting under a tree right outside of school as she waited for her friends to finish their classes and then go out somewhere to eat. She checked the time and noticed that it was getting late, she thought to herself "they should be done by now, weird".
Her hunger was getting worse and she was getting cranky because of it, so she decided to just go eat something by herself. She stood up and started walking, but she was stopped by Mark who stood in front of her.
She got surprised by it and said with a nervous smile "oh... hey".
"Hey umm... would you like to come eat something with me and just... catch up or something? It's been a long time since we've talked" Mark asked as his hands started shaking from how nervous he was about being with her again, the good kind of nervous.
"Actually I was waiting for my friends and -" Sunmi's words were interrupted by a buzz coming from her phone, it was from the group chat she had with her friends, the things she read were "can't make it to lunch" "kinda busy rn sorry" "I'm still stuck in class".
"So?" Mark asked. Sunmi thought about it and thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea to go with him, in a friendly way of course.
"Sure" Sunmi said with a smile.
The two started walking together, and made their way to Mark's car, "wow you finally learned how to drive" Sunmi joked as she tried to not make their hang out awkward or anything. Mark chuckled and replied "it took me three failed attempts to pass the drivers test but yea I finally did".
They went inside the car and Mark started driving, Sunmi asked "so where are we going" as she put her seatbelt on, "you'll know once we get there" the guy replied.
Before Sunmi could question him, Mark played music by the girls favorite artist, Baekhyun, also the one artist he listened to the most when he wanted to remember her and how hard she attempted to replicate the artist's high notes, he thought that was very cute of her.
And that's exactly what she did at that moment, her favorite song was playing 'Underwater', and of course she had to sing along.
"Damn you've gotten better at it" Mark said as he chuckled at the girl's singing, "wait till you hear me singing All I got, I go crazy on that one" Sunmi said, "you haven't changed one bit".
Sunmi was too focused on Baekhyun's music she didn't realized where they were going, Mark turned off the car as they were finally on their destination. Sunmi said "where are we- OMG GRANDMA's KITCHEN" the girl said with excitement as she stared at her favorite Korean restaurant ever.
"Omg it's been forever since I've eaten here" Sunmi said as she grabbed her purse, "yea I remembered how much you loved this place, let's go" Mark said as he smiled and then they both got out of the car and made the way into the restaurant.
They sat down and once they took their orders they talked.
"I hope the food is still as good as it was back then" Sunmi said excitedly as she took a sip of her water, "it's still great, I came here once with- umm... someone a couple of months ago and it taste just the same." Mark replied.
Sunmi stared at him for a second and then said with a calm tone "with your girlfriend huh?". Mark nodded with embarrassment and then Sunmi proceeded to say "hey it's okay, it's been two years we can leave all of that break up stuff behind and just talk as friends right?".
Mark gave the girl a soft smile and said "yea I guess we can, just as friends".
They both smiled at each other and then Sunmi said "so... friend, how is it going with her? For how long have you been together?", Mark thought for a second and said "Just 6 months I believe, and... we've been having trouble lately but we're working on it, how about you? Have you been seeing anyone or are you dating someone?".
Sunmi giggled and said "not at all, I went on a couple of dates back in America but nothing ever worked out, I guess you got more luck then I did", Mark scoffed and said "I'm not that lucky, I do like her but sometimes Natty can be a little... mmm how can I say this".
"Dramatic?"
"Yea a little bit"The two kept talking about their lives and just catching up, without bringing up the topic their relationship to prevent things from getting awkward.
They also talked about high school gossip for a while, "And do you remember Jaemin?" Mark asked, Sunmi nodded as she had food in her mouth and then the guy proceeded to say "he has a girlfriend now, her name is Soojin do you remember her?".
"Omg I do, wow the troublemaker and the principal's daughter, who would've thought".
"And there was also-" Mark's words were interrupted by his phone buzzing, he checked his notifications and saw a message from Natty asking where he was, instead of responding he just shut his phone off just to prevent her from checking his location and finding out that he was eating lunch with his ex girlfriend.
Yes he knew that's was not something nice to do but he had to prevent another fight with her.
The two exes finished their food and left the place, Mark drove Sunmi to her house and before she stepped out of the car, Mark said "I'm glad we could hang out without things being weird or something, I really missed talking to you".
Sunmi softly smiled at his comment and replied "me too, I had a really good time". Mark questioned whether he should do it or not but he opened his arms as a way to ask the girl for a hug, Sunmi smiled and hugged the guy.
It felt nice to have her next to him again, she still used her signature vanilla perfume which he had always loved. After a while they separated from it and Sunmi gave the guy one last smile before stepping out of the car.
Mark left and he spent the whole ride home just smiling from ear to ear and so did she.
