DEVIN, CLAD IN A BLACK VALENTINO SUIT, is helping Juliette get ready for the debutante ball. Now you're probably wondering, Devin, in a suit? That's new. Yes, he crossdresses, but he knows that it scares people. Even though he doesn't give a damn what people think. His face makes up for it. He's currently doing Jules's hair. His best friend wants big sexy curls and that's what she's getting.
Juliette is doing her own makeup this year. Although, the girl is naturally beautiful and doesn't need any makeup, she just wants to feel good about herself. Plus Devin gave her tips so there's that.
"Okay, done with your hair. Let's get you dressed."
Juliette stands up with confidence and walks into the dressing room. This year's ball is black tie so the debutantes can wear whatever color dress that they want. Jules picked up a white sequin embellished Jenny Packham gown with a pair of glittery Louboutins during the dance team's last shopping trip.
Ten minutes later, Juliette is ready to go.
Devin stares at his best friend in awe. "Jules, you look so beautiful." There's a photographer back here taking pictures.
"You like it?"
"Love it. All eyes are going to be on you tonight." Her escort is Justin. Devin had given her permission. She felt a little uncomfortable asking Justin at first, given how territorial Devin and Justin are over each other. But Justin assured her that he'd be honored to do it. "I'll be right back. I'm going to go check on Justin."
"Okay."
Devin steps out of the dressing room, into the hallway. He spots his boyfriend in the middle of it, fixing his tie. "Babe!"
"Dev! There you are." They run up to each other. Devin can see Justin's frustration."Help me, please? You know I'm not good at this stuff."
"That's why you have me to help you out."
"You're so good to me." He kisses Devin on the forehead several times before straightening his posture. He's wearing a three piece Dolce & Gabbana suit with some black suede Louboutin loafers.
"Done. I need a picture of you and Jules together for the yearbook."
Juliette comes out of the dressing room to meet up with the couple. "You look so handsome, Justin."
"Please. Jules, you look gorgeous."
Devin escorts them both to the stairs, where the debs and their escorts have to line up. As he walks up to the bar to order some champagne, his phone vibrates in his pocket. His stepmother is calling him. He refuses to talk to her after that last time she berated him about taking over the family business. Placing his phone back into the pocket of his slacks, Devin hops up from his perch, straightens his blazer and looks back out into the sea of people watching the stage performance.
"Hello and welcome to the annual Dispensary Cotillion and Debutante Ball." The ballroom was filled with applause as the event began and Juliette took a deep breath as she joined in. It was about to happen and she felt the butterflies threaten to choke her, but she just focused on the speaker's voice and her own breathing to get through it.
"Jules. I'm here for you." Justin squeezed her hand for good measure. "You got this."
"Delaney Carrington, daughter of Jonathan and Rosemary Carrington, escorted by Michael North," Juliette smiled as Delaney took a step forward and was accompanied by her escort and began her trek down the grand staircase as the announcer continued on, "Hopes to major in neuroscience and will continue her family's legacy as supporters of the Los Angeles County Museum ."
