Note: This one isn't very romantic, but I found it cute. Hope you enjoy!

"Alright, we will set the tents here. Everybody get to work!" Levi commanded as he got off his horse. "Frank, Heinrich, Johannes and Gerrit, you four will patrol tonight. Make the hours up by yourself."

They nodded and got to their positions, while everyone else build the tents. The monthly expedition had taken longer than planned, resulting in your and Captain Levi's squad having to spend the night in the forest.

"Levi." you walked up to him as he tied his horses leash to the tree. "Are you sure this is a good idea?"

He grunted and turned to you. "Do we have any other option?" he asked.

You shrugged and let your horse eat some grass. "No, but you know what I meant."

Levi stopped and looked at his horse. He didn't reply for a while, his previous actions interrupted by his thoughts. He knew what you were referring to, and he didn't like it one bit.

You shifted on your feet and clicked your tongue. "Did I offend you? I'd like to apologize, but-"

"Tch. You didn't offend me. I'm not that sensitive." he grumbled as he turned to you again.

"Well-"

"No." he interrupted. "We have no other option, so it doesn't matter whenever it's a good idea or not."

"Right." you sighed and got your horse again to prepare your own tent. "Was just looking out for ya." you mumbled.

Levi haltet his actions again but didn't turn around. He closed his eyes and muttered something under his breath. He knew you were just trying to be a good...friend.

Friend.

He shook his head. Even after the four years in which you both had formed your friendship, there was still some confusion whenever you acted like...this.

Of course he's had friends before. Isabel and Furlan were his first, and they cared for him just like how he did. He knew that. And yes, there was also Hanji, who he'd never openly call his friend though – no, he couldn't give her that. But you? You were different from them, because you were you. He didn't understand it. You were another brat, that's for sure, but you were also someone who he'd told more than anyone.

About an hour later, when all the tents were settled and the sun disappeared completely, everyone prepared themselves for sleep. A few candles were lit, the patrols were at their spots and you were tired.

You closed your tent and nestled yourself beneath your cozy blanket. Like every day before going to bed, you took one of your favorite books out and started reading a bit.

You had no idea what time it was, when you suddenly sat up completely startled. Sweat began to form in your skin and you swallowed nervously as a shower of fear rushed down your spine. Running your fingers through your hair, you look around with wide eyes.

Something had brushed your tent.

Hesitantly, you grabbed your blade and held it closely to your chest as your heart thumped rapidly against your rib cage.
