It was Thursday, and Y-Zee sat in her shop, in the small makeshift office upstairs. It was exactly four days since the Mrs. Detola's cake incident. Surprisingly, when the older woman called on Monday she only thanked Y-Zee for delivering the cake on a short notice. She said nothing about Y-zee's attitude to Dare. As though it never happened.
Y-Zee who had already prepared a speech of apology was left confused but she didn't dare bring up the matter just in case Mrs. Detola had forgotten she won't use her own hands to open her nyansh.
Although it was possible that Mrs. Detola had forgotten, there was also a possibility that that Dare guy didn't mention the incident to his sister at all. She couldn't deny he was rude that day but maybe he was just transferring aggression. Besides, she too had lost it that day and let her fiery temper take over as usual.
The door creaked open, breaking her train of thoughts. The small chubby head of Hachi, one of Yzee's apprentices popped in.
''Madam, one oga dey find you downstairs''. Hachi said wiping her chubby hands on her apron.
Y-Zee's eyebrows furrowed. She wasn't expecting anybody today and from the look on Hachi's face, Y-Zee could tell she didn't know the man. If it was a special customer like Mrs. Detola Hachi would have let him in since she knew all the faces of the important clients.
''This man wey come, You never see am before?''. She asked, standing up from her swivel chair and smoothening the creases on her leopard print bikers short. Hachi shook her head.
''Madam I sure say e never come here before. But e talk say e sabi you wella''. She answered leading Y-zee out of her makeshift office, downstairs and into the restaurant.
''Na this be the oga wey dey find you''. Hachi informed her gesturing at an average height, very dark skinned man with shoulder length dreadlock leaning on the counter were people made their order.  He was undoubtedly good looking. Suzy, her other apprentice was already checking him out. His face split into a broad grin upon seeing her.  Y-zee regarded him with a strange expression.
''Ah-ah Y-zee Don't you remember me anymore?'' the man's face dropped upon realizing that Y-zee didn't recognize him.
Y-zee stared at him, that voice...
...she couldn't deny  the man looked familiar but— Then it clicked. Y-zee squealed and hopped on the man not caring that she was the boss of the restaurant she was currently in.
''Victooooor!!!!''. She screamed. Victor let out a deep, delighted laugh and engulfed her in a bear hug.
She pulled out of the embrace.
''Where have you been?'' She asked unable to contain the excitement in her voice. Victor grinned boyishly, placing his hands in his pockets.
''I've been everywhere, you know my job description keeps me traveling round the world''.
Y-zee began to notice stares from the people in the restaurant.
''Come, come upstairs''. She dragged him upstairs. She gave Hachi and Suzy reassuring glances and hurried upstairs.
Once they were settled in her office, they began to catch up on stuff.
Back in those days when they were younger they were actually a group of  four friends. Her, Somi, Victor and Desire. They were all on the street at that time, hustling except Desire whose parents were scholars and professors in prominent universities.
Long story short, they split up eventually, Victor joined the military and got posted to one of the  northern states of Nigeria, Desire had a baby out of wedlock and was flown to Lagos by her parents. She and Somi stuck together sha.
Victor was just telling her how he retired from the military to establish his own Security and intelligence agency that was now one of the top private security agency in the Nigeria. He now offered services to Governor, senators, prominent politicians.  His information network was so  advanced, he could get any info he wanted that was even how he found her in the first place. Y-zee listened to all this with her mouth and eyes wide open.
''Ah, Victor you are now a big boy''. Was all she could manage after he was done talking. He shrugged and grinned.
     ''It's God oo''.
''So what are your plans now?Like what brought you to Port Harcourt?'' she asked.
''Nothing much. It was business that brought me here–  Y-Zee gave him a pointed look that said ' so you didn't even come to PH because of us'
–and I even have a meeting with the company today but before that I'll pop in to Somi's salon to say hi''.  He said.
''Ah so you even know about Somi's s-'' She paused abruptly regarding him with a strange expression. Somi and Victor dated for years when they were younger. But it didn't work out for them. Victor was doing some ghetto boy things, running small illegal operations and Somi was never really in support of the kind of life he led. Somi eventually broke up with him and he was so heart broken he joined the military just to get away.
     Victor noticed her stare.
''That's not why I'm seeing her Y-zee, I know I fucked up but she was my friend before all that and I just want to say hi''. He explained quietly.
Y-zee nodded understandingly.  What he said made a lot of sense.
They chatted for another few minutes. Before he checked his watch and said he had to go. She pouted.
''You just came and now you're leaving''.
Victor chuckled, standing up. Prompting her to stand up too.
     ''Lemme see you off''.

It's was 8pm-ish when she reached her apartment. The TV was on and Somi sat on the couch as pale as a ghost. She didn't even hear when Y-zee came in.
''Somiete Belgiam''. Y-zee called out loudly, walking towards the center table, picking up the remote and muting the TV. Somi jerked.
''Y-zee! Your back''. She said trying to sound normal.
'What on earth were you thinking of? You didn't even hear when I came in, let them not come and kidnap you in this house oo'. She yabbed her friend knowing fully well that Somi was like this because Victor visited her but since Somi hasn't said anything, she won't pry.
''Who will kidnap me? Abeg stop talking rubbish and make food for me jare''. Somi called out, suddenly sound ing annoyed to Y-zee who was already in the kitchen microwaving jollof rice.
''So if I didn't come you wouldn't have eaten?'' Y-zee teased.
''Y-zee make food abeg''. Somi's tone was deadpanning.
Ah, why is she now transferring aggression? She was not Victor oo.
Y-zee thought as she dished the heated jollof rice into separate plates for them.

Halo readers
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Tell me what do you think about Victor?
I think he's my favorite character so far even if we're only two chapters into the story.
My fellow Nigerians, Protest oo!!! I heard it's worst in the northern side.
But in PH here so far we haven't experienced much violence. To my readers in the North stay safe.
Don't forget to vote.
