Chapter 16

Eddie leaves Chris, Carla and Buck in the house and heads to the station. He gets out of his car taking a breath ready to face another day at work hoping nothing goes wrong.

"Hey Eddie, you okay?" Cap says seeing Eddie walk in.

"Hey cap, I'm good, I was just thinking about something Chris said this morning." He says smiling and heading towards the changing room. When he gets into the changing room Hen follows behind and makes him jump.

"So what did Chris say that is making you smile so much, and I'll know if you're lying or telling the truth." She smirks.

"How will you tell if I'm lying? He questions.

"Call it gay intuition." They both laugh.

"Okay, well buck stayed over after I brought him back from the hospital, Chris was at a sleepover, but when we woke up both Chris and Carla were at the door."

"Do I want to know the rest?" She says with a worried face.

"It's nothing bad, it's actually very sweet."

"Mhm, get on with it then." She gives him a light pat on the shoulder.

"Chris say's 'dad can we go to the zoo today?' so I tell him no because of being here for the day and he responds with 'I wasn't talking to you dad, I was talking to my other dad' and I basically died inside because of what buck might of thought but he said it was like the best thing ever." Eddie takes a big breath.

"Well at least you know what to get Buck for Christmas." She laughs and walks out of the changing rooms with a smirk on her face.

"What?.. Hen?" Eddie stands in the changing room baffled, when an idea fizzles it's way into his brain and he only has four months to plan it.

During the day Eddie is on his phone in between every call, and even seems very distracted when on calls.

"Eddie, can you lend a hand?" Chim says mid way through washing the dishes. "Eddie?"

"Huh? Yeah, sure whatever." Eddie mumbles not even looking up from his phone. Chim walks up behind him and makes him jump.

"What the hell, Chimney?" Eddie places his phone down, finally looking at Chimney.

"What is it that has got you so worked up, you can't even look up from your phone? You know you have been so distracted all shift, it's like you aren't even in the room."

"I'm sorry, I'm just looking for something." Eddie says in the most nonchalant tone.

"Looking for what?" Chim reaches for Eddies phone. He manages to swipe it, but Eddies snatches it back out of his hand.

"Nothing don't worry about it, just looking for something for Buck." Eddies says going back to his phone.

"Is he okay?" Chim asks worryingly.

"Yeah he's fine this is just something for Christmas and you can't keep secrets so I'm not telling you because you will tell Maddie, who will tell Hen, who will tell Athena, and Athena will tell Bobby then Bobby will let it slip to Buck, so go away and let me continue doing this." Eddie says getting up from the sofa and going to the bunks.
