Talons of twilight

✿~Chapter 2~✿

"Mother, are you sure I'm ready to go? What if I get bullied! What if everyone hates me because I'm an animus!" Lavender gasped. "What if they find out I'm a rainbowing!" Lavender's mother chuckles.

"Honey, you won't get bullied and they won't find out you're a rainbowing or animus," Lavender's mother says smiling.

"Well if you say so," Lavender said, unsure about her mother's decision. "I love you mom," Lavender said, forcing out a smile.

"Love you too lavender" her mom says, trying not to cry. Lavender's mom flew back to the rainwing kingdom. Okay im lost alone and confused and surrounded by strangers lavender thought. Let's start by going to the great hall. Lavender had heard of the great hall, and its walls of pure jade and how beautiful and fancy it was.

After a bit more wandering in the halls lavender looked around to see the great hall wow lavender thought. Sunny was announcing winglets. luckily, lavender came just in time for the last winglet

"And lastly, in quartz winglet we have: Lavender, Sharkbite, flame, emerald and quartz." Sunny announced. "Before you all go, i am announcing that there will be a sandwing and icewing student coming to jade mountain late." Sunny begun "Their names are summer and evergreen and They will be joining the quartz winglet. She announced. " Now, you are all dismissed. Enjoy your time here!" Sunny said with a cheerful smile on her face.

Lavender was new to the school and did not know where anything was. She thought about talking to fatespeaker who guided the students around jade mountain. Fatespeaker was sitting by the door, waiting for all the students to ask where the winglets are. Lavender's scales turned an ivy green as she approached fatespeaker. "Hello, do you mind if you could tell me where the winglets are?" Lavender said in a quiet and polite tone of voice. Fatespeaker could see that lavender was feeling shy. "Go to that hall over there," she began as she pointed in the direction of the door " then turn right and keep going straight until you see the quartz winglet." fatespeaker said in a calm and thoughtful tone of voice.

"Thank you," lavender said as she walked away. She followed the directions that fatespeaker had told her. Lavender was good at remembering directions because of her natural intelligence she got from her icewing and nightwing side. She could hear lots of thoughts from the 42 students at jade mountain. They were nervous and annoyed. Some of the thoughts were like oh I hope i don't get burned by that skywing in my winglet. Ooh or get frozen by frostbreath. Or THE SANDWING TAIL! While the other thoughts were more like YOU EXPECT ME TO SLEEP WITH A RAINWING AND A MUDWING! Lavender couldn't sense any negative thoughts from her winglet. More like aren't rainwings afraid of skywings? Will they be more scared of a fire scale? She knew that was Flame. And she had discovered one of her clawmates were a firescales. Okay I hope that they will be nice. That's what most of them thought. And lavender was relieved that she wasn't alone and the others were kind and shy just like lavender. Lavender had realized that she was just standing outside of the quartz winglet caves squeezing her eyes shut so she could read their minds easily like a complete weirdo. Okay lavender, time to go in and meet your totally awesome clawmates.

Lavender took a deep breath as she walked through the door to the quartz winglet. Immediately, she was greeted by what looked like a seawing mudwing and sandwing. He had blue scales and brown wings with a yellow underbelly. He had a barbed tail and his eye was as black as the night sky.

"Hello! My name is Sharkbite! And clay is my uncle! Isn't that cool?" sharkbite said. Well I'm the daughter of Queen Coral. She's way cooler than Clay. Lavender thought

"Um hi. My name is Lavender. I'm a rainwing, seawing and silkwing." Lavender said trying not to make eye contact with sharkbite because that would make her more nervous. When lavender said Rainwing Seawing Silkwing, sharkbite looked down at lavender's tail. Even without reading his mind, she knew he was thinking: if she's not a sandwing then why does she have a barbed tail? Before he could say anything else, Lavender rushed to see where her sleeping corner was, then she thought about her other clawmate, Emerald. Lavender Tried to figure out what tribe she was in. Was she a sandwing? Definitely not. Was she an icewing? Possibly. hmm maybe a leafwing? Most likely... then she turned to the hammock that was accompanied by a Rainwing student. The rainwing had pink scales and a light purple underbelly a bit different than her's. Her wings were an emerald green. This must be emerald! Lavender thought. Emerald was reading a book. When she saw lavender approach she peeked over her book and grinned softly.

"Hello! You're the other rainwing right?" she said, slowly putting her book down, and her soft grin turned into an excited smile. She saw lavender's scales turn an ivy green. Emerald saw that lavender was nervous and tried to force her excited smile back to a soft grin. "As you might have already guessed, my name is emerald." Emerald said, climbing out of her hammock to greet lavender and see her close up. "Oh I forgot your name," she said, her soft grin fading to just a normal grin. "Hmm lets see..." Emerald's head twisted to study lavender. "is it... Plum? No, your scales are brighter than a plum. Is it butterfly? Oh I remember now, you're lavender!" she said.

"Yes. um, nice to meet you," Lavender said as she swiftly ran off to explore the rest of her winglet. As she was looking at the empty sandwing's sleeping corner, a shadow appeared above her. Lavender trembled as the shadow landed.

"Hello!" The dragon boomed. not in a deep voice, but just loud enough to make lavender flinch. "Hi! hi, hi. I'm flame!" the dragon said proudly as she flung her wings out. When she flung her wings out, a fallen palm leaf touched her wing, and in an instant burned into a pile of ashes. "Oops," flame said she looked guilty and lavender remembered that flame was a firescales! Flame shook her head and moved on. "So you're lavender right?" flame asked. Lavender nodded. She could hear flame's negative thoughts clinging to her head. I think I scared her. That is not good. Maybe I should have stayed in the Skywing village. Flame took her talon out and lavender held it. Lavender jerked back pretending it burned. And quickly changed her talon scales to the deepest black. Flame winced. "Three moons! I'm so so so so so so so so so so so so sooo sorry!!" Flame wailed. She put her head down, clearly embarrassed that she forgot she was a firescales. This is the part where she gets angry, hisses at me and never will forgive me and wants to see me again. Hearing those thoughts from flame lavender said in a soft tone, "It's fine! It's just a burn." lavender bit back her last words.

"Well I guess I'll see you around!" Flame said, darting away with her head still down. Lavender jumped as she heard the announcement. "STUDENTS OF JADE MOUNTAIN." the voice boomed. "IT MUST HAVE BEEN A LONG FLIGHT FROM WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM SO YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE A GOOD NIGHT'S REST." the voice boomed again as the announcer stopped talking. But it was true. The flight from the rainforest to jade mountain was painful. Her wings and legs were sore. So she leapt to the next hammock and slept.
