Liam's POV
"Hey, I thought Dan and Clay were driving with us?"
"Nah, they're going to ride with Tony and just stay over at his," Blake shrugged, eyes not moving from the road ahead.
Seemingly content with the response given, Liam turned his focus to the passing street lights through the passenger side window. By now, the sun had completely set, and all that was seen through the darkness were the lights of traffic.
At first, Liam felt nervous about having to be in the car alone with Blake following what had happened, but then he felt relief as he remembered that Dan and Clay were supposed to join them. However, that relief was gone in a second once Blake began to drive off with no other company.
Liam wouldn't say that the car ride was awkward, but he also couldn't deny the shift that Liam felt after Blake's eyes roamed his body only a few minutes prior. It wasn't like Liam was naked or anything, but Blake's gaze felt so strong that Liam couldn't help but feel exposed after being caught checking Blake out.
It was as if Blake was satisfied by Liam's behavior, and if Liam didn't know any better, he would have thought that Blake was interested in him.
But Liam knew that couldn't be the case.
After only a few minutes of staring aimlessly at the cars and houses that were passed, the car slowed to a stop in the driveway of Blake's house.
"Uh...why are we here?" Liam asked hesitantly, looking over at Blake with furrowed brows.
Blake shut off the car engine and unbuckled his seatbelt before shifting his attention towards Liam. "Oh, right. Tony's house is only like a block away, so we can just walk from here," he responded nonchalantly, holding his eye contact with Liam.
Liam nodded, but tore his gaze away from the green eyes that stared back at him. Once again, Liam felt a sudden wave of warmth inside, causing him to cough to break the sudden tension. "Alright, let's go."
The walk to Tony's house, as Blake suggested, was only a few minutes walk. The air was crisp, and Liam relished in the soft, mid-October breeze. The night was mellow, save for the passerby cars or other student's that were making their way towards the party.
At one point, the two boys came across a few drunken teens hogging the left side of the sidewalk, so Blake and Liam shifted to the right to pass by them. By doing so, Blake's right arm brushed against Liam's, causing his arms to break out in goosebumps underneath his crewneck.
In the split second of contact, Liam felt the heat radiating off of the other male despite the layers of clothing both of them had on. Even though it wasn't cold by any means, Liam found himself missing the warm sensation of their touch immediately after the contact was broken. The thought alone caused a rush of heat to Liam's face, which only intensified when he thought about the chance of Blake thinking he was blushing due to their touch. He wouldn't be wrong, but that would be beyond embarrassing. Liam prayed to whatever god above that it was too dark out for Blake to be able to catch onto how Liam was reacting.
Soon enough, they reached the front door of Tony's house, which to his surprise, was already cracked open. When Blake told Liam that it was only going to be the team and some plus one's, Liam thought, well, it would be just that. However, the lively living room to which they entered into was congested. Liam wouldn't say that it was a full on party, but there were definitely more people than he had expected there to be.
"Heyyyyyy! Camera boy!" Aiden slurred, approaching the two with his occupied hands raised in the air. To no one's surprise, he was already visibly intoxicated and holding two beer cans.
