Miguel laid there, looking blankly at the bland, tasteless hospital food on his tray. His mind continued replaying 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 moment. The moment of him being kicked off the railing. The peculiar taste of iron he had on the brief, yet painful impact. No matter what he did, no attempt to black it out could possibly make him forget that moment. He did what his sensei taught him, he showed 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆, and now look where it landed him.

"Hey.." A voice said, peering through the door way. Miguel turned, revealing his sensei: Johnny Lawrence, bruised and beaten. "Ya know, I keep had to sneak in here.. kept my wrist band from last time so they'd let me in," He chuckled a bit before looking down at his, now in tears, bedridden student.

"Sensei.. its, its.. been so long..." Miguel stumbled over his words. "What happened to your uh.. face."

"Oh, this? It was just some douchebags at the bar.. no big deal." Johnny looked away, "And hey, look at you man.. finally got that neck brace shit off... plus I always thought headgear was for pussies anyway." The two chuckled a bit, though Johnny seemed to laugh at his own joke more than Miguel did.

"Wait," He paused, "You were at the bar..?"

"That coma make you a hippy now or somethin' now?" Johnny laughed, though Miguel didn't seem amused, "Alright fine.. yeah I was at the bar."

"Too drunk to come and see me.." Miguel looked down, muttering under his breath. Johnny, ready to try and defend himself was then cut off, "Y'know.. the doctors said to my mom that I might.. 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻."

"What." Johnny said blankly, almost too shocked to say it in any real tone of voice. "No... they- they cant know that," The two looked at each other, Miguel now fully in tears. "They don't know how strong you are... I mean-"

"Why did this happen to me sensei?"

Silence.

"I followed every thing you taught me... I- I showed mercy.. you said that my life would be fucked up if I didn't, so sensei... why, WHY DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME!?"

"I.. don't know." Johnny shrugged, sighing.

"YOU DONT KNOW?" He practically shook with anger, "The day I won the all-valley.. you taught us to show "No Mercy" but as SOON as we used it on your son... you- you just back peddle straight away?!"

"Look, please Miguel I'm sorry-"

"You know what's even better.." Tears flowed out of the young man's eyes, "It was 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 fucking son that did this to me.. put me in here."

"Oh, c'mon-"

"Get out the hell of here... now."

Johnny slowly stepped away, teary eyed, before sighing and exiting the room. And just like that, the bleak, painful silence returned to the room. Miguel laid there, boiling with a bizarre mixture of sadness, guilt, and rage.

He shut his eyes, falling asleep, falling into a dream that had been constantly reoccurring for the past few days he was awake.

He found himself in his school's hallway, same distance until the shadow covered stairway, same organization of the lockers that were on the sides of him. Though, one thing was different. Nobody was here, all he was surrounded by was the sound of complete and utter silence. He walked forwards towards the darkness near the end of the hall way, a black and gold Cobra Kai gi forming around him and replacing his casual attire. At the end of the hall stood a figure, looking away from him. It was dressed in an all white karate gi, the opposite of Miguel's. The one noticeable feature of it was the art on its back, a sunrise looming behind what appeared to be a hand-painted tree. The Miyagi-Do logo.
