"Lylah wake up" my mother, Jane, spoke soothingly into my ear with her elegant voice. Struggling with my sheets that were so cozy I tried to wiggle out of them but stopped to see if I could get some extra z's. "Lylah Danette Anderson I told you to wake up Im not going to say it again" this time my mother's voice was not so soothing and had a mean edge to it. I always knew I was in trouble or would be in trouble when my mom or dad said my full name. Staying in my bed the whole day is all I wanted to do instead of going to school with ugh those people.

Winning the feud between me and my sheets I forced myself to go to the bathroom and take a long  steamy shower like I did every meaningless day. I dragged my flip flops across the floor boards as I hovered to the bathroom door. My hands felt numb as I turned the icy cold doorknob to the right and sighed one of my miserable sighs. "Lylah be back home before 9:30" my father, Mike, told me from behind the bathroom door with his deep yet classy voice. "Okay I'll be hanging out with some friends in the meanwhile" I said with a monotonous voice.

Hearing his footsteps on the oak floor boards always made my heart skip a beat for some unknown reason. "Lylah you're gonna be late to school missy so hurry" our maid, Maddie short for Madeline, called after me like she did every morning. Throwing on the latest couture of Miguel Neil's new winter collection called Beauty Streak, I looked at my phone and saw I had 12 missed calls and 10 texts. Grrr really I thought half the calls and messages were from my bestfriend since kindergarten, Fiona, and my boyfriend for 6 months now, Jeremy. The floor boards creaked as I ran on them to get to the kitchen before Maddie threw a fit and I couldn't go out with any friends after school.

"Mhm that's more like it now sit down and eat your breakfast" she ordered as I hopped down from the last step. "Alright Maddie  only for you" I whispered with a mouth full of chocolate chip pancakes and ran out the door before she could stop me. Maddie grinned and called out "don't trip" on purpose, I looked back with the most evilest smirk and said "over my dead body". My persian blue Maserati gleamed in the sunlight and looked brand new as I drove down the block to school. As I saw Fiona I put the car in park and got out to go greet her with a fake smile that I usually wore.

"OMG Lylah your hair is sooooooo cay-ute" (cute) Fiona announced with the biggest smile ever. My hair was curled and look so stunning that I couldn't resist and threw a lock behind my shoulder, the color was brown with caramel highlights. " Jeremy will be all over you" my other friend since 6th grade, Cameron, squealed as she looked and caressed my hair with her pefectly manicured finger nails. I smiled and replied "of course why wouldn't he be I'm gorgeous". We formed a line side by side and walked into the school bulding with Cameron on my right and Fiona on my left.

A couple of geeks opened the door for us and we strutted down the halls like it was a runway. When we were in the doorway everyone moved out of our way and just abruptly stopped and admired us like always. All the guys wanted us and all the girls wanted to be us even if they said they would never. All three of us kept walking down the halls and while I turned my head to give Jeremy a flirtatious smile someone bumped into me. It was a pretty hispanic girl who was often mistakened to be black I suddenly looked down to see that she had bumped into me with a chocolate cupcake in her hand.

The cupcake had ruined my one and only fuschia ruffle neck bandage sweater top that Maddie had bought me for my 15th birthday when my parents were in Thailand. I glared at her for two mere seconds and saw a mischievous smile come upon her glowing face. "Ugh look at what this thing did do you know how much this cost? Clean it up" I shouted at her, the smile had been wiped off her face and she said in a sarcastic tone "why don't you just go get your babysitter to do it". "She isn't my babysitter she's my maid and she apparently isn't here" I spoke with hatred in my voice, "then go fetch her" she spat in disgust at me. Jeremy then came in between us "trust me she isn't worth it" he remarked and I calmed down before I broke down into tears of anger.

Jeremy gave me a kiss and then the girl retorted "how does it feel to have my leftovers"? I looked at Jeremy and he murmed " Shut the hell up Anjulee" (Angel) as she and her friend walked in the opposite direction.
