BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!!!! My alarm clock was going crazy and I couldn't stand it ugh I had to wake up.  I hit the snooze button and went back to sleep not caring that I had 3 tests to take that very same day. "Despiértese despiértese" My mother, Mariella, yelled at me "visto bueno bueno" I called out sleepily "I can't do this today I'm going down to the job agency to see if I can find anything today" she said with one of her looks of sadness. My mom had been looking for a job to support the family ever since my dad left us 6 years ago to live with his soon to be wife, Carmen.

It always tore me to shreds when I saw how hard my mom worked to support me and my younger brother, Enrique. To help out with the bills I got an okay job at the mall with good  pay. It wasn't hard to see that my mother's light brown eyes were almost on the verge of tears. I could tell she was thinking about how Enrique and I would turn out in the future. Sitting up I tried to comfort her but she suddenly got up and rushed out of my room silently sobbing.

Getting out of  bed I sprinted to the bathroom and hurried into the shower trying to forget what had just happened. I walked out of the bathroom and into the hall to my room with no time to spare. Throwing on what I had picked out the night before Enrique walked into to my room looking at me wierdly "you know I'm late right?" he told me.  "Ah mi cielos" I had forgotten that I had to take him to school "like you saying  oh my gosh is  gonna make me so much earlier" he exclaimed sarcasticly. I quickly texted my best friend since pre-k, Aliyah, and asked her for a ride so that we didn't have to run.

We ran down the stairs and I saw that there was no breakfast for Enrique to eat.We took a moment of silence and I looked at him playing with his hair "it's alright I'll try to find something to eat at school" he said with an unconvincing smile. I sighed to no turn of events while Enrique hurried out the door. Aliyah was already honking the car horn with an enthusiastic smile. Hopping into her cherry red corvette convertible that she had gotten for her 16 birthday she sped away to Linclon Elementary. As we pulled up to the gate Enrique and I jumped out the car and bolted to Ms. Cole's 5th grade classroom.

"Anjulee I'm sorry but this is the thirteenth time that Enrique has been late to school this month" Ms.Cole announced with a tender voice.  She had been my 5th grade teacher also and that was about the time when my dad left us for Carmen. Ms. Cole was the only adult that I felt I could really talk to after what had happened with my mom and dad. "I've been trying to drop him off more early it's just that now my mom has been looking for a job at the agency" I said looking at Enrique and stroking his hair. "Okay well all I can say is just try to be more earlier next time" she told me with a sympathetic voice that she usually talked to me with.

Enrique gave me a hug and got into class while Ms.Cole looked at me with her kind blue eyes and said " Now go to school we don't want you to be late too". "Thanks Ms.Cole" I replied giving her a gigantic hug. Promptly walking away I remebered when Aliyah and I first met, it was one of my best days ever. A smile came across my face and I skipped towards Aliyah's car. She laughed a little and I looked back and saw a flashback of the two of us skipping down the halls like the good 'ol days.

"Hmph I rememba dem days" Aliyah spoke with a break in her words.  She surpressed a cough and I got into the car saying "me too....me too".  In 10 minutes we were already at school and Aliyah was looking for parking while I got out to go see my boyfriend for 3 years, Terry short for Terrence. He wrapped his strong arms around me and I immediately felt better. Aliyah came and separated us saying "okay okay enough you two".

Aliyah's boyfriend for about 2 years now, Chris, came up behind her and squeezed her until she giggled the giggle that he loved. "Mhm" I said then she smiled "what?" she asked playfully with the biggest smile ever. Walking into school Terrence and Chris found their friends and went over to them while Aliyah and I walked to our friends. As we approached Kyla and Tia I saw that they had double fudge cupcakes with chocolate icing on the top. "Hey I see yall got some cupcakes dere" I told them with a look like where's mine.

"Of course we got yall some" Kyla informed us handing us both a cupcake. The wicked witch of the west and her lil gang walked through the door and TRIED to walk down the halls looking all big and bad. "They lookin' like a HOT MESS  like no lie" Tia announced gesturing towards Lylah and her lil group. I laughed so hard that I stumbled backwards and slammed the cupcake into Lylah's shirt. Suddenly I looked at her shirt and saw that the only thing big about her was the stain I had created.

A smirk came across my face and then she shouted at me "ugh look at what this thing did do you know how much this cost? Clean it up". I quickly wiped away the smile and wondered who she thought she was talking to. "Why don't you just go get your babysitter to do it?" I said with the most sarcastic tone ever."She isn't my babysitter she's my maid and she apparently isn't here" she informed me with an attitude."Then go fetch her" I yelled at her retaliating the attitude that I was given when my ex from 7th grade, Jeremy, came in between us.

"Trust me she isn't worth it" he retorted looking at Lylah in the eye and then gave her a kiss. "How does it feel to have my leftovers?" I remarked with a wide grin as they looked at me. Aliyah and I walked away while Jeremy whispered something in the distance that I couldn't hear.
