True to his word, Hermione, Theo and both of their fathers took them to Diagon Alley the next day. To get there, she had to step into their living room fireplace, throw down some powder, and speak the name of her destination clearly. Theo Sr. made sure to express that to her. Theo went first, green flames shooting up as he disappeared from the room, before it was her turn. The fine powder spilt from her fingers, like sand in an hourglass, before she threw it at her feet and said "Diagon Alley.'' Like the Portkey, the ground was ripped out from under her, and she was tumbling through the very fabric of reality, until she was placed on solid ground again, coughing and spluttering.

Theo stood in front of her, offering his hand down to help her up. She gratefully accepted, brushing off the dust, when she noticed the other people standing with Theo. Standing regally, as if he expected her to grovel at his feet stood a blonde boy, who she assumed to be Draco. His mother stood behind him, composing herself with the same look as her son. And on the other side of Draco stood a girl with raven black hair, more beautiful than Hermione could think an eleven-year-old could look. She must be Pansy. Her parent seemed to be absent.

"Hermione, this is Draco," Theo gestured to the blonde boy still sneering at her. "And this is Pansy." Unlike Draco, Pansy acknowledged Hermione with a slight tilt of her head and twinge of her lips.

The fireplace roared to life, and Theodore Sr. stepped out, elegant as ever, paying no mind to his son, and stepping to the side so that Hermione's father could follow. However, instead of the dark curls she was expecting, blonde hair came through, stumbling to her feet. She looked around Hermione's age, around the same height, and youth that graced her features. She righted herself when she saw her audience, awkwardly smiling at Theo, completely ignoring Draco and running to hug Pansy. Theo murmured in her ear. "That's Daphne Greengrass."

Daphne, upon realising there was a person unknown to her, immediately approached and introduced herself. She smelt of orange and cinnamon. "Hi, I'm Daphne!" Her smile was huge, and the energy of it made Hermione want to hug her.

"Hi, I'm Hermione," she smiled warmly in return.

Another blonde-haired person tumbled through the foo, a kind-looking man, whose smile reminded her of Daphne. Then finally, Hermione's dad stepped graciously out of the fireplace, and their group was on their way. Daphne was fascinated with the prospect of a new friend and looped her arm through Hermione's, whispering things in her ear while they waited for their parents to collect their money from the bank. Gringotts was massive, but their parents didn't trust their children around their massive bank vaults. Understandable.

From Daphne, she learned that Pansy was a right bitch. She was in love with Draco, yet Draco reciprocated none of the feelings she felt. Draco did not like her quite public displays of attention, yet that was how Pansy expressed her love.

"He looks physically repulsed," Daphne giggled when Pansy threaded her arm with Draco's.

"What are you two whispering about?" Theo asked, slowing his walking pace to match theirs.

"Nothing," Hermione sang, slipping Daphne a sly look.

Theo wasn't convinced. "Come on, tell me," he begged.

Daphne smirked. "Like Hermione said, absolutely nothing, Theodore."

The look Theo threw her was enough to explain why he left them alone. They were free to whisper again. When their group huddled into Ollivander's, the wand shop, Ollivander ushered the adults out, rambling about how it was a part of the magic. Draco went first, picking up the first wand he was offered. It pretty much all but exploded in his hand, sending flaming sparks at Pansy's head, who shrieked and ducked. Draco mumbled an apology and reached for the next wand. This time, the wand singed some of Theo's hair off. And the third one, a ten-inch, hawthorn wood and unicorn hair core wand, glowed in his hand. Ollivander looked pleased and accepted the payment from Draco.
