I opened my eyes. The shine of the bright bathroom lights made me flinch. Just how long had I been in here? After a few moments of finally getting used to the brightness of the room, I tried to get up. Once I got up from the floor my eye caught a glimpse of the pregnancy test, still on the counter.
Tears reflexively started streaming down my face again, remembering what had happened earlier.
I touched my stomach, now truly aware of the life forming in me.
I can't abort it, I wouldn't dare to. Hopefully, Minji will return before they arrive.
Hopefully, she'll at least stay. Whatever happens, I can't let our child grow up in a broken home with 1 parent. I wouldn't let them inherit that from me.
Suddenly there was a noise in the living room.
Had I left something on the stove? Maybe it was just room service coming to ask how I was again.
I heard another noise, this time it was as if the TV had been turned on. I don't remember leaving it on, and there's no way it could turn itself on automatically. I walked over to the door and opened it, walking through the bedroom and into the living room.
There was a man. Sitting with his legs crossed on my couch. Just browsing channels, on my television, in my house.
He was wearing an all-white suit, with a black dress shirt underneath. His hair was bleached blonde, with waves that cascaded all over his face. His cheek was stained with some red, some small spots of red on his suit as well. Something I didn't believe was part of the original design.
He looked over at me. "Hey, there you are, finally woke up from your little nap I see," he said, as if we had been lifelong friends. But I knew I'd never seen him a day in my life until now. He put the remote down and stood up, taking slow steps toward me.
Every time he stepped forward, I stepped back. "W-who the hell a-are you?" I barely managed to get out, "how rude. You don't recognize your brother-in-law?" He said to me, brother in law? But I've already met Minji's brother before, and she's never mentioned another.
The man smiled at me, a weird glint in his eyes.
Brother of hers or not, he wasn't giving me good vibes, at all. "How did you get in my house, what are you doing here?" I yelled at him, hoping he would leave.
My words fell on deaf ears, he wouldn't listen. He continued taking slow strides towards me. Still looking at me with those weird eyes.
