It had been a few days since the duel, and Benedict seemed to be doing better. Color was finally returning to his cheeks, and his breathing had become a lot more stable. Juniper was immensely relieved. The Bridgertons had been kind enough to let her stay with them, ignoring what the ton might think. They understood how much she needed to be near Benedict. She hadn't spoken to her father since the duel and couldn't bear the thought of being at home with him.
Juniper sat beside Benedict's bed, watching him closely. She could see the toll the duel had taken on him, and it pained her to see him confined to the bed for so long. "You need to get out of that bed," she said softly, her voice filled with gentle insistence. "The doctor says you need to move around. It will help you regain your strength."
Benedict looked at her, a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. "I don't know if I'm ready," he admitted, his voice laced with uncertainty.
Juniper reached out, taking his hand in hers. "You are stronger than you think," she said. "And I will be right here with you. Every step of the way."
Benedict held her gaze for a moment. Finally, he nodded slowly, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Alright," he said, his voice steadier. "Let's give it a try."
Juniper smiled warmly at him and nodded, rising from her seat. She gently pulled back the covers and helped him sit up, her movements careful. As he swung his legs over the side of the bed, she remained by his side, her gaze full of encouragement. "Just take your time," she said softly, her tone soothing. "There's no rush. We'll go at your pace."
Benedict nodded slightly and remained seated for a moment, allowing the slight ache in his body to subside. After a brief pause, he pushed himself up, one hand gripping Juniper's shoulder for support while the other pressed against the mattress. He stood carefully, his legs feeling wobbly under him. Once he felt a bit more steady, he began to take slow, measured steps with her assistance, each step an effort to regain his strength.
Juniper guided Benedict slowly across the room. She moved at his pace, allowing him to lean on her when necessary while offering gentle encouragement. "You're doing great," she said softly, her voice filled with warmth. "Just a few more steps, and we'll get you to the window. A bit of fresh air might do you good."
Benedict managed a faint smile, his gaze fixed ahead as he focused on each step. The effort was taxing, but he could feel his strength returning with every cautious movement. "I wouldn't have made it this far without you," he admitted, his voice hoarse but grateful. "Thank you for staying by my side through all of this."
As they reached the window, Juniper helped him to a nearby chair, making sure he was seated comfortably before adjusting the curtains to let in some natural light. The sunlight bathed the room in a soft, warm glow, and Benedict closed his eyes for a moment, savoring the feeling. "It's nice to see the world outside again," he said.
Juniper stood beside him, her heart swelling with affection. "You'll be up and about in no time," she assured him, smoothing a lock of hair from his forehead. "And when you're fully recovered, we can start planning our future together, as we've talked about."
Benedict's eyes met hers, and he saw in her gaze a future filled with promise. "I'm looking forward to that," he said quietly, his voice filled with determination. "For now, I'll take it one step at a time. With you here, I know I can get through this."

After nearly two long months, with Juniper's support and the assistance of Benedict's family, he had finally made a full recovery. Though a faint scar remained as a reminder of his ordeal, Benedict found he didn't mind it. The most important thing was that he could finally leave his bed and move around without assistance or the constant ache that had once plagued him.
With his recovery well underway, Benedict felt a renewed sense of freedom and optimism. The Bridgertons, grateful to see him back on his feet, welcomed him warmly. The family had been a pillar of strength during his convalescence, and Benedict appreciated their kindness more than words could express. Juniper, in particular, had been his constant companion, providing comfort and support during the darkest days.
One sunny afternoon, as he walked through the gardens of the Bridgerton estate, Benedict felt a deep sense of contentment. The vibrant flowers and the gentle breeze seemed to symbolize his resurgence. He turned to Juniper, who was walking beside him and took her hand in his. "Thank you," he said softly, his voice filled with genuine gratitude. "I don't think I could have done this without you. You've been my rock through all of this."
Juniper looked up at him, her eyes filled with warmth. "You don't have to thank me," she replied, squeezing his hand gently. "I'm just glad you're well. We have a future to look forward to, and I can't wait to see what comes next."
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. Anthony and Violet joined them, their expressions filled with happiness and relief. "It's wonderful to see you both enjoying this lovely day," Violet remarked, her eyes twinkling with maternal pride.
Anthony nodded in agreement. "It's been quite a journey, but seeing you back to health makes it all worthwhile," he added, placing a supportive hand on Benedict's shoulder.
As the group continued their stroll through the gardens, the atmosphere was light and hopeful. The challenges of the past few months had only strengthened their bond, and they were ready to embrace whatever the future held, united by their love and support for one another.
