"She didn't know me!" I couldn't get that image out of my mind. I couldn't even hear the muffled voice behind me. Not until a sharp edge tapped my shoulder, awakening me out of my mental stupor. I could then fully comprehend the words being directed at me.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" It said.Turning my head I looked up into Aodh's smiling face.
"We're not finished here yet, my friend."
I turned away once more.
"Hey, I'm talking to you." His tone became more antagonized.
I just stared into my memories where the other-dimensional portal used to be.
"Aah, you're no good to me." He kicked me over and walked back to his throne. He stood with one hoof on the seat and rested his hand which in turn rested on his raised knee' and pondered.
"Ya know, she won't be gone forever!"
I rolled around on my other side. He wasn't even looking at me.
"She will be like a ghost, a sad and mournful ghost. She will be heard every time someone is about to die. Wailing, crying, lamenting the life...., and love she lost."My fists clenched of their own volition and I pushed them into the ground forcing my body to its knees. Aodh looked at me with his head down and his eyes glowing. His smirk seamlessly evolved into a grin and I felt it in my gut. I raised to my feet, cracked my neck with a twist of my head, and walked towards Aodh.
As I passed it, I reached out my hand and Freagarach returned to my grasp. (Not sure how I did that, it happened in the moment, I wasn't even thinking!)
"Now we're getting somewhere! Welcome back to the party." Aodh being satirical.
I paid no attention to his quips.
"Oh, are we not amused?" He asked, "Not coming out to play? No? Well here then, try this!"The Spear of Assal was on a collision course with my face. I continued forward and without even batting an eyelid I parried it out of my way.
"Ooh, look at you." He jeered. "Hmm, try this on for size." He wagged his index finger up and down and the ground started to rumble. Skeletal hands emerged from the dry earth, searching, grabbing at my legs.Aodh then spread out his fingers and twisted his hand until they pointed upwards. Flames suddenly surrounded me and soon stripped any remaining flesh off the undead probing limbs. Thankfully I noticed the shield was still hovering, so I took advantage of it and catapulted to safety. The shield then fell to the ground and I wasn't gonna ask why.
Aodh quickly lost his composure and it was evident that he no longer wanted to "play!" Suddenly the ground beneath me started to move and give way. Pillars of rock began undulating like an invisible hand playing an exceptionally large trumpet. But I heard no music. My feet became uncomfortably warm as lava oozed from the cracks.
I needed to think fast. So I unravelled the chain that still protected my forearm. Quickly, I attached one end to my sword and when the column was at its highest pinnacle I used the Earth's power to melt and fuse the other end to one of the chains that still hung from above. I threw the Freagarach with all my might. The weapon pierced Aodh's shoulder, pinning him to the back of his throne.
The chain was shorter than I had anticipated so I had to time it just right and run across the top of each pillar as they rose. And of course, the last one was too far and I just managed to grab the edge with both hands before falling to a fiery demise. When I climbed on top it was already on its way back down. Aodh summoned his spear but it did not return. I willed the column to move faster and guess what, it didn't.
When the pillar eventually reached its highest point I leapt, and thank the Goddess I grabbed iron links with both hands. Without delay, I scurried along hand over hand hanging beneath the chain with my legs wrapped around for support. Aodh tried to free himself but the blade burned his hand. He couldn't touch the sacred weapon. Finally, something I could use to my advantage.
