Actor Yoon Jongwon, who is doing mandatory military service at the Special Warfare Command, will attend a three-week parachute course this month, according to the command on Thursday.
"Yoon will attend the basic airborne training taking place from April 7 to 25," an official from the command said. "The exercise includes jumps from helicopters or transport planes at altitudes of 2,400 to 2,800 feet."
During the first and second week, Yoon, 27, will attend ground-based training on how to operate a parachute and how to land. He will participate in jumps during the final week, the official said.
"Soldiers will be assessed to have succeeded in the airborne exercise if they complete the landing fall four times without any problems," the official said, noting that Yoon will be treated equally with other soldiers.
Yoon was assigned to the intelligence specialty group and joined the Special Warfare Command on March 17 after completing basic training at the Army training center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, on March 12.
Yoon's duty is in handling combat operations, according to officials.
Yoon was conscripted on January 28 and will be discharged on July 28 of next year.

Yoon uploaded a short letter to his personal instagram on Jan. 25 to inform his fans that he was reporting for his mandatory duty.
On the day of his conscription, hundreds of fans from Korea, China and Japan gathered at the entrance of the training center to see the star join the Army.
