"Mom, I'm ba..." I look up and around in horror at the various piles of rubble piled up against the areas where houses were supposed to be. Looking around at the place where my family's large house once was.
"Emily.. Everly?" I said with panic and desperation, evident in my voice. I scanned the area, hoping someone or something survived this. What were our soldiers doing when this happened?
They were meant to protect their ruler. After a few minutes of searching and no hope, I huddled up against the pile that was supposed to be my house and stayed there for hours until a gentle hand was placed on my shoulder.
I looked up and saw my sister covered in ashes and debris. "Everly your.. here? " I inquired, hoping I wasn't hallucinating, but I was assured once she said with her eyes full of tears, "Lancy"
