"DON'T fucking mess up."
"Shush I'm not going to mess up."
"Really? Cause you seem fucking nervous."
"Do you want me to tattoo you or not?"
"Not."
"Dude."
"But your hands are shaking-"
"Cat." Jocelyn stops what she's doing to look at her girlfriend. "Shut up and let me tattoo you."
Jocelyn was currently in Cat's garage, a tattoo gun in her hand. Cat's parents allowed her to use the space as her studio.
"And as your girlfriend." Jocelyn clicks on the gun. "You should have more faith in my hands."
Jocelyn sends her girlfriend a smirk before she leans down, needle hitting Cat's skin before the girl can protest.
Cat bites her lip; she is used to the pain by now, covered head to toe. It was the fact that someone else was inflicting it.
She was stretched on her stomach, her back to Jocelyn, while she leaned on the rolling desk chair in front of her, Jocelyn behind her, dipping more ink into the needle when she went in for the second time.
Days were flying by, the leaves had turned brown, slowly withering around them, the air became crisper, and the sky darkened.
Fall had arrived.
"What time did you invite the guys?" Joss asks, hoping to divert her girlfriend's attention away from the needle pricking her back.
"Any minute now. I said before the sun goes down."
Jocelyn nods, sitting up and rolling her shoulder, switching the needle gun to her right hand. Though her mental wounds from that day had healed, her shoulder still was giving her grief.
She was attentive; her first time tattooing someone ever. Cat had nagged her for months to learn how to do it, but she had never taken an interest in it until now. She had been practicing for days but this was the real deal. She couldn't fuck this up.
After being locked up for a few weeks, she had nothing but free time to master skills she had previously regarded trivial. Ellie had tried teaching her guitar, but she couldn't get the hang of it. Dina offered to teach her how to cook, but she declined as well. Only Cat piqued her curiosity.
She has always enjoyed drawing since she was young. But this was a step up from that; this was permanent.
"How's it going back there?"
Jocelyn smiles as she sits back and looks over her work. The initial root of a cherry blossom tree runs down Cat's back.
"Pretty hot Cat,"
Cat chuckles, "Your just saying that because you're the one doing it," Jocelyn shrugs before going back in, "Maybe,"
Another hour or two passes, and just as Jocelyn is about to complain about her friend's timing, they all walk in through the door. Jocelyn quickly notices Ellie in her familiar grey sweater. They communicate with their eyes, exchanging pleasantries until Jocelyn attempts to cover it up by smiling at Jesse and Dina.
"Took you guys long enough. Where the fuck you guys been?"
Dina enters the room, chin high, with a flare about her that irks Jocelyn immediately as she sets down the tattoo gun.
