What if they spent a night together?
The humidity was extra high today, and Chimon hated that it made him feel lazy. Particularly because he's spent a great amount of time in bed over the past few months.
"Phi, should we listen to some music?" The question distracted him, almost surprising him.
"Oh. Yeah, I'll turn turn on a playlist," Chimon responded as he reached for his phone. Honestly, he forgot Perth was here. Kind of a dumb thing to forget since he was literally laying right beside him, with their shoulders almost touching.
A mellow lo-if playlist began playing lowly in the background. Chimon tossed his phone down the bed and turned to lay on his side. He watched the rhythmic rising and falling of Perth's chest, the small movement of his throat, and the curve of his eyelashes. The softness of Perth just being, living, breathing, was hypnotic.
The hum of the cool air circulating through the room added a little bit of tranquility on top of the easygoing beats and the melodic singing of a women. It was all nice. Even more so when Perth turned to face him.
"You okay?"
"Mmhmm, just relaxing," Chimon replied, letting his eyes connect with Perth's for a moment. The link was quickly broken as the other one pulled him into a hug. An arm tucked his head into Perth's chest.
Perth's warmth. Chimon loves it. It's far better compared to the sticky humidity or the oddly chilling air conditioner.
Wrapping his arm from on top to curve around Perth's torso, brought them a little closer. Breathing Perth in, snuggling into his natural warmth, Chimon couldn't help the tug at his lips. Oh how he loves being with Perth.
Being together, alone, has been the best.
As friends, of course.
Perth and Chimon, together yet, not together.
Despite that, they both know their bond is beyond just friends but they also haven't pushed the boundaries of what they mean to each other yet. They're standing on the edge of friendship. It's too complicated to fully understand.
And Chimon doesn't was to think about that in the late hours of the night. Just being here with his nong is enough. The easygoing tones of Joji playing.
...It's a warning baby, I just want you to know. That's when the ceiling caved in...
He felt Perth shift a little, then his lips pressed to Chimon's forehead. It wasn't a kiss. It's merely a tender touch of lips to skin. With Perth hand brushing through his hair, it was all so comforting.
A soft tender display of affection.
It's like a sweet melody. Every sound around them and every touch vibrating through them. Their hearts practically melding together, heartbeats thumping in sync.
...please just let me go. Let me go I've seen enough...
"Hey...Chi...I-"
Perth began saying something, but cut himself off. Chimon silently tilted his head back to see Perth's face. There was a strain in his expression. It wasn't quiet sadness. He just watched, waited, hoping that Perth would continue.
...perfect don't mean that it's working. So what can I do?...
Perth finally cleared his throat, looking into Chimon's eyes. "I don't want you to hurt anymore. I hate seeing you like-"
Chimon instantly knew where he was going. He was the one cutting Perth off now, "Don't. Perth, I'm...I'm doing better, I told you, and it's the truth."
A small but genuine nod comes from him. There was a sense of understanding between them. Chimon was doing better. Though, he isn't completely healed or healthy or anything close to what a doctor might call 'normal.' But what would that do? Saying that part might only scare Perth. Chimon does not want to cloud his mind with worries about mental health or anything else. Chimon just wants to be here, in the moment with Perth.
...Said I'm fine and said as I'd moved on...
As they stayed in this position, just gazing upon each other, there was something else in the air. The tension was palpable.
He glanced to Perth's lips. All Chimon would need to do is lean up. He could do it. He could bridge the gap and change everything about this moment. He could do it. Really do it. He feels it in his chest, the urge to transform their comfort into something less platonic and more romantic.
Sucking in a breath, he wants so badly to kiss him. Ultimately, Chimon moves foward into the crook of Perth's neck. He didn't kiss him. Snuggling back into the warmth was something he could settle for—relish in the comfort—as friends, still.
It's better this way for now.
