What if Perth accidentally kissed Chimon?

It was like any other January evening, a chill in the air with the tv on. Perth sat on Chimon's cozy tan couch as they watched the football game. It was Liverpool against Chelsea and just the two of them.

It was a nice time. Joking and laughing, some cheering and light banter, a few snacks and a drink or two. It was great, it was natural, it's their new normal.

It was like riding a bike, or perhaps like kicking a ball. Once you got into a rhythm, it became so easy and natural. That's exactly what it was like for both Perth and Chimon. They had gotten so used to each other. Seeing one another several times a week, hanging out, texting, calling, and just being together. They were two buddies, two bros, that came to find their new normal, with each other.

It was normal, just like this night was normal. Watching the game, seeing the ball be kicked towards the goal, the timer counting up. It was great, until Perth was also on a timer when the 'Ding' rang out.

"Woah, was that actually a notification?" Chimon commented as he looked to Perth.

"Yeah," he said with an awkward laugh. "Oh, it's my Ma. She's one of the only people that I actually get the notifications for. Almost everyone else is on 'do not disturb'."

"Is everything fine?" Chimon asked before taking another sip of his cola.

"Yeah, I guess I'll need to head out in...30 minutes."

Perth completely forget about the family dinner which was scheduled for tonight. His cousin had a big announcement or something. He still had some time, so he continued chatting with Chimon. They talked about the Liverpool roster, and then something Ohm had mentioned, and then a cool idea Perth had for his car. He didn't want to go just yet, so they lazily took their time.

Then after three more messages, almost an hour later, Perth said, "oops, I really have to go, I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" He said, giving Chimon a quick kiss, a peck on the lips, before getting and leaving.

But as he walked around the couch he stopped in his tracks, realizing what he just did.

He kissed Chimon.

He kissed his friend. He kissed him like he would quickly kiss a lover. As if Chimon was the person he's been in a relationship with for a while. He kissed him as if it was a normal thing to do.

Turning to look, he noticed Chimon staring at him too completely still, as he kept sitting on the couch. They looked at each other like it a very very un-normal thing to do. Yet, it felt natural.

"Umm Perth?" Chimon said, his cheeks becoming rosy, as he blinked several times.

"Yeah?" he answered, his voice cracking.

"I... um. That was..."

Since Chimon wasn't finishing his sentence, Perth tried to clear the air. "Sorry, P'Mon, I don't know what, why I-"

"No! No, you don't need to apologize," Chimon suddenly cut him off and waving his hands in the air. He quickly got up stood in front of Perth.

"It's okay really, I guess I was just surprised." He sounded unsure with a slightly questioning tone.

"Still, I'm sorry," Perth said, as he rubbed a hand on the back of his neck.

"Really, it's fine, you should get going."

Awkwardly, Perth said, "yeah, I'll see you tomorrow." Then he maneuvered around Chimon towards the door.

As he reached for the handle to leave the air of abnormality, he heard a quick patter from behind. Then Chimon's voice, "Wait, Perth." Next thing he knew, Chimon was giving him a peck on the cheek and opening the door for him.

"Good night, drive safe!" Chimon said, and pushed Perth out the door.

Standing out in the cool air, the door closed behind him, looking out at the driveway, he felt dumbstruck. "What?" He whispered, asking himself the question. "What the hell just happened?" He said, pressing his fingers softly to his cheek where he received the kiss.

He debated knocking and trying to ask Chimon what just happened. At the same time, though, he felt too embarrassed.

Then there was another 'ding' that came from his phone. It must have been his mom again. So he just took a deep breath and went home as he was supposed to.

Note:

At this point, October 2024, I truly miss Perth and Chimon together. I've been liking Perth's new partnership with Santa, but it's just not the same. I hope all my sunset followers are healing. I want to send everyone good wishes wherever you are in the world <33
