❈ Percy looks around for Helena; everyone is at the campfire but her.

Where is she?

He tries to recall the last time she was next to him. It had to have been during the battle.

Wait.

He never saw her after the battle. He starts internally panicking a little.

Where is she? Was she hurt?

How had he not noticed it? It had been almost a whole day since the battle.

Fuck.

Percy sees Mark making his way to the Ares cabin and calls his name, making him stop and turn to Percy.

"Have you seen Lena?" Percy asks him as soon as he reaches him. "Do you know where she is? Cause I haven't seen her."

Mark's jaw tightens, and he glances away before answering. "You care about her now, do you?"

"What are you talking about?" Percy asked, confused.

"Tell me Jackson, have you talked to her at all since the battle ended? Have you talked to her after you kissed someone else? You said you would."

Percy stands there unblinking for a moment. Wait, how did you know Rachel kissed him? No one else saw her kiss him, right?

Percy's silence makes Mark let out a mocking laugh.

"Give me one reason why I should help you, Jackson. You hurt her," Mark growled, stepping forward. "You fucking hurt my sister and now you're going to go waltzing back with some half arsed apology. And to think I was rooting for you."

Guilt swirled within Percy. He tries to speak up, but Mark is on a roll now.

"Do you think an apology is enough? She came to me crying because of you. Crying, Jackson. She told me everything. You could live a thousand lifetimes, do thousands of good deeds, and save millions. But you. You will never deserve my sister. Never." Mark told him, his jaw clenched before he looked away towards the lake.

His eyes softened for a split second before hardening back up.

"Hels has to talk to you anyway. She's down by the lake. Don't try and talk to me again, I'll kill you. Oh, and that's not a threat. It's a promise."

And with that, Mark turns and walks into his cabin, slamming the door.

Fuck.

What had Percy done?

True to her brother's word, there was Helena sitting on the edge of the dock.

Percy takes a breath and walks to her.

She hears him before she sees him. Jamie. Helena's heart clenches, and she doesn't look at him as she stands and turns to leave.

"Wait." Percy says suddenly, guilt seeping into his tone. "Just wait. Give me a minute to explain,  please."

She doesn't want to give him a minute. She whirls facing him, she isn't sad right. Now. Now she's angry.

"Oh, give you a minute." Helena scoffs. "Let you explain yourself? I don't think I will."

"Lena– "
