Once you have an awakening, now its time to figure yourself out as a newly awakened therian. There are many different ways to find things out, it just really depends on how you go about learning them. For instance, when it was my awakening, I began researching more into therianthropy. I never knew of the world that I was diving into until I began learning the many terms that incorporated into the therian world. So much to learn and consider.

Things that you want to do is definitely do your research, educate yourself that way you know everything there is to therianthropy. It also helps to narrow down your theriotype. Do you feel strong shifts when you see birds? How do you feel just hiking in the woods or what does it feel like when your swimming? Asking yourself questions about where your shifts are strongest helps specify what species you can look into.

In today's community, even amongst those who have been in the therian community for years, have a tendency to change terms that have been long established since the Were days of 1993 and 1994. It s the duties of those to preserve the rightful definitions of those terms. New terms are also created almost daily. Be familiar with the new terms but keeping true to what has already been established. The definition of what a therian is SHALL NOT BE CHANGED.

It is okay to not get it right the first time. Nobody ever gets their theriotype right in the beginning if at all. When I awakened, I identifited as a pure black timber wolf. I was okay with that no matter how cringe it sounded. Until I read an educational post on Instagram saying:

"There are no such things as pure black wolves. All wolves of any species are not just one pure color. Wolfdogs are the only canine species that can be pure black. "

Just like anyone, I wanted to argue with that fact. But I took a deep breath and I did the research to come to find out that the post was correct. Wolves can not be pure black. So, it got me rethinking on my identity and I began my self journey again. You never stop questioning yourself and it is very healthy. Most of us never get our identities right the first time. It's called a life journey for a reason. Even if we have found our true theriotype, keep on educating yourself.

You can start with meditation. It may not be the most reliable but it is a start. Another way is by asking other therians. Hearing someone share their story could bring a sense of inspiration or relief. Find out if there are any other therians within the area where you live. Go on social media like Instagram, BlueSky, Twitter, or Facebook to find others online. Join discord servers or watch Youtube channels of therianthropy. Just be aware when it comes to searching through online platforms. The hashtag therian is used in alot of videos, even by those who don't identify as a therian. Be careful. It can get easy to get misinformation.

Doing research not only narrows down to your theriotypes species but what if you came to find out you were not just one species but identified as a whole group of one species? What if you had more than one theriotype? Doing your research can help you in many ways and it is the best start for you on your journey.
