the world's a stage
and all the men and women merely players
...
in a hill of human corpses, a young man opened his eyes and clawed his way out from underneath.
the world he sees is the world before his death.
"Again," his shoulders hunched forward...
The Earth is at the mercy of human beings. It can only try to repair the damage done by humans but it can never chase them away. Humans are viruses; it can help the Earth but it can also destroy it.
Hence, when the Earth finally lost its ability to sustain itself, outworlders invaded the planet.
Then, human beings are at the mercy of outworlders.

T-minus 13 days...
"Several individuals have fallen sick in the span of one month. The numbers have risen to one-hundred thousand people and counting all over the world. The medical professionals are currently undergoing research on why this phenomena has continued.
"In the first week, this had been concluded as the spread of Influenza B. The 'influenza' keeps spreading at a rapid pace without stopping. Hence, the order for lockdown had been issued. What caused confusion in the medical community is that, there is no report of a single infected person who was cured.
"The isolation areas continue to accept patients but as more and more people show symptoms, the isolation areas are now over-crowded—"
More and more similar news are broadcast all over the world.
People locked their doors and windows and were afraid to step out of their houses.
No one knew how the 'influenza' spread. Even after thorough investigation, no one could figure out ground zero. The 'influenza' struck like a predator waiting in the dark. It caught the whole world off guard.
The first few days were in chaos. Some people didn't believe that they could get infected, some didn't listen to the government, and others felt entitled to spend their days however they liked. It was difficult to make everyone listen and make them stay indoors.
...
T-minus 7 days...
The infected people had already reached ten million, which alarmed all the people in the world. Political leaders issued an emergency meeting to all leaders. The common people, even those who were stubborn, no longer went against the government.
The numbers continued to rise until it reached a stunning one-hundred million.
And yet, no one has died.
...
T-minus 0...
A frightening number of over a billion people were infected in less than half a month. The world was in chaos.
What happened?
Where did this 'influenza' come from?
Why was no one getting better?
And while the humans were trying to solve their issue, something even more devastating occurred.
The Earth stopped spinning for one second.

A hand came out from beneath a hill of human corpses. A youth crawled out, gasping from breath. Each intake made his lungs burn. His nails dug into the dirt ground, soaked in blood, as he pulled himself out from the decaying corpses burying him.
"Again," the word came out weak and hopeless, as if the young man held not a spark of hope in his heart. "I regressed again..." The silent tears fell without warning yet a laughter so chilling resounded in this desolate place.
As far as the eye could see, numerous human corpses piled into a hill. The stench of blood and decaying human flesh filled the air, covering the once fresh mountain breeze.
"Why," he spoke to himself and to the heavens. "Why would you give me such an ability..?" The young man took a shaky step forward.
Stepping on his fellow humans dead bodies.
Stepping on people he barely even knew.
Stepping on people he once had been friends with.
He continued to walk with no aim in mind. His whole being screaming his grief and emptiness.
"I only wanted to die; why can't you give me that luxury?"
The young man experienced it all. Success. Failure. Trust. Betrayal. All the good and the bad; he lived all of them.
But he was also tired of everything.
He simply wanted to lay rest.
To be welcomed by death's arms.
"This world isn't a stage. We're not players willing to amuse your dreary humor. I've saved it enough times, so why won't you let me die?"
But he already knew the answer.
He had always known and shouldn't blame anyone else but himself.
Because it was his wish to regress.
To save his beloved.
But the world thinks it is fun to send him back when his beloved had already passed away to save him.
He couldn't even get a second chance to save him.
He couldn't even get another glimpse of his sunshine smile.
In the end, he still traversed this cursed world all alone.
